IT'S TRUE - In early May I told Spokane's Gypsy leader Jimmy Marks about our new song, The Gypsy Curse. The song is based on the day in 1997, when Jimmy had the hearse bearing his father, Grover's, corpse stop in front of City Hall. (See blog for details.) Anyway, hearing about the song, Jimmy said: "I will bless it."

And that, my friends, is good enough for US!

NEWS FLASH!!! I want to thank everyone who voted to make Trailer Park Girls Spokane's THIRD BEST BAND and THIRD BEST BAND NAME in the recent Inlander "best of" poll.

This is the biggest musical thrill I personally have ever had since I was 20 years old and Jerry Reed agreed to do one of my songs and then backed out like a southern-fried bastard at the last minute.

We of Trailer Park Girls do NOT take our third-place responsibilities lightly. We wear the this runner-up to the runner-up mantle with dignity. We realize that - God forbid - should anything ugly (poison, equipment theft, bestiality rumors) happen to the members of the undeserving bands who placed ahead of us, we would be catapulted to No. 1. Not that I'm suggesting anything, of course. Speaking of contests, that Joe Brasch was completely ignored in the Sommapalosers best guitar player vote shows you the illegitimacy of that fraud.

Anyway, we hope that our third will inspire all the other young musicians out there that - YES! - dreams do come true. Music doesn't have to be the endless trail of rejection and rehab as depicted by lying ass-hats in the mainstream media.

Keep practicing. Keep believing. And some day you can be a rich rock star who snorts cocaine mixed with the cremated remains of a loved one.

Oh, yeah, that's rock and roll.

So all together now: We're No. 3! We're No. 3! We're No. 3!

History Lesson:

TRAILER PARK GIRLS began one day seven years ago when my musical amigo, bass player Jeff Peterson, grew sick of playing everybody else's music in our cover band, Chef Hoover and the Spamtones. "Let's do your stuff," he said. "Why not?" I replied. But what to call our new venture? Jeff had the answer: "I like that Trailer Park Girl song of yours. Let's name it after that." A savvy idea. This would automaticallly give us our own theme song, which, as evidenced by the very best pop bands (The Monkees, the Charles Manson Family Band.) is essential for success. And so the all-original Trailer Park Girls was born. Amen.
