TOWHEE (Toe-he)

Born in Dayton, OH 2005 - Towhee released their first self titled EP in February of 2006, and attracted a humble local following. However, with the release of Streetlights in 2007, they received national acclaim when Relevant magazine named them one of the top four indie bands in the Midwest and one of the top 14 indie bands in America. Reminiscent of classic indie trendsetters like The American Analog Set, American Football, and Death Cab For Cutie,Towhee reminds us of what we fell in love with in the 90’s and early 2000’s, while bringing with them a welcomed freshness that embraces their Midwestern roots. Towhee’s garage-rock production style and heartfelt lyrics add a subtle urgency to singer/songwriter Brandon Clark’s smooth, understated vocals. With guitars that often alternate between romantic swooning and playful pluckiness, courtesy of Brandon Clark and Vallen Pool, accompanying vocals and bass from Sarah Cooney, and the distinct drumming of Josh Clark, Towhee’s sound encapsulates loss AND new beginnings, the surreal contentment of summer AND the gloomy depression of an Ohio winter.
