Totimoshi have been compared to tons of bands throughout the years. Countless lazy minded people have tried eagerly to pigeonhole this California trio, as it's easier to say - "they sound like" or "it's reminiscent of" than it is to listen and understand, comprehend and articulate. Why? Simply put - because Totimoshi sound like no one else. They forge their own ground, set their own trends. Founded in Oakland in 1997 by Antonio Aguilar and Meg Castellanos and now residing in sunny Southern California (Singer Antonio Aguilar's home) this trio has been unrelenting and uncompromising in it's vision. It's music incorporates all that's Cali. Raised high in the desert mountains of California just 30 minutes from the home town of Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart Antonio Aguilar shares Beefheart's and Zappa's air of adventure and uncompromising spirit. He writes songs that sound like his mountains look. Dark, mysterious, dry and powerful. Each song has a breath of it's own. You won't find a record where every song sounds alike. You won't hear a song that reaches for the billboard chart. In Totimoshi you'll find passion and feeling and above all maturity. They've written four albums. Mysterioso, which is a sonic assault on the ears. Monoli, a beautiful album written as a mediation on the preparations for death. Ladron, a meditation on the thief within the psyche that robs you of energy and the thieves in society that rob you of the rest, and Milagrosa which is an album written about a battle between compassion and hate. The lyrics are deep, the songs are deeper. There are rumors a new album is on the horizon. We can only wish. So good listener, happy reader, with all ado we invite you to listen and hear, and open your ear.
