Lisboa é a cidade que inspira a formar, em 2001, uma orquestra de jazz que proporcione uma vibração efusiva de energia e calor sonoro. São a Tora Tora Big Band, um cocktail universal que reúne músicos de múltiplas nacionalidades, num poderoso naipe de metais e uma secção rítmica estrondosa.
Através dum repertório que cruza o Jazz e World Music, a sua aposta é renovar o velho conceito das antigas big bands que tocavam música para dançar, apresentado desta vez com elementos e tendências sonoras bem recentes como: Afro, Latin, Funk, Arabic, Trance, Reggae e Drum'n Bass.
Com um recente álbum editado em Março de 2007 "TORA TORA CULT", nomeado pelo "Expresso" como um dos catorze melhores álbuns nacionais de 2007, o segundo registo de originais da banda, é o sucessor de "TORA TORA".
"TORA TORA" foi o disco de estreia, editado em Abril de 2006, também nomeado pelo "Expresso" como um dos treze melhores álbuns nacionais desse ano, passou pelo primeiro lugar de vendas na secção de Jazz da Fnac e teve um "feedback" bastante positivo por parte da imprensa.
