The Sausage Machine, a regular gig night at Hampstead's White Horse, proved to be the foundation for too pure, and indeed the compilation, Live at the Sausage Machine, marked the first release for the label. Subsequent recordings, from the raw confessionals of PJ Harvey and the proto-grunge of Th' Faith Healers to the avant-pop of Stereolab and Mouse on Mars, placed too pure at the heart of a revitalised indie scene, earning them a sympathetic audience and much respect along the way.

Still vibrant in 2006, too pure continues to beat a path for incredible and adventurous new music. Artists such as Electrelane, Monade, Scout Nibett and The Rogers Sisters all are testament to that. And with bright prospects in the form of new bands The Organ and Shooting At Unarmed Men, as well as Stereolab returning to the label after a decade away, too pure will no doubt continue to offer a dynamic, challenging and exciting roster.
