Tofu is a rare animal. Like me he’s some sort of creature born from the fallout and radiation of Post-WWII America. Horrible, hideous things we are. But we fucking survive. Bad things happen, we’ll be on top. Why? It’s the terrible instinctive drive that we can’t stop. It’s not a choice. It’s just what we do. We’re primal and savage. Something that is less (or maybe more) than Human.

Now ask me about Tofu’s music. Again, what can I say that you don’t already know? Tofu is a visionary. He brings this ghastly abomination that he is to every beat. You can feel it in your bones. The reptile brain starts to connect to the medulla oblongata. You can hear it. You can see it. Take “Golden Earrings” for example. I don’t know where he pulled that sample from [Peggy Lee], but damn it makes me feel like its 1936, and hip-hop is booming. Tofu is creating a new world. An alternate history. Bringing the past to the present and forcing us to relive things we never lived in the first place.

Regardless of your musical tastes, Tofu’s music is a creation of pure

genius. An auditory drug that would have to be freebased, because anything

else would be a waste to it’s purity. Like kissing a shotgun, it blows your

mind, grabs the pieces and puts them back together again, offering you an

omelet made from Humpty Dumpty after you’re through. The fear and pain of

the streets, the glimmer and glam of the big time, rolled into one and taken

to the head for a musical masterpiece that I’ve not heard before. It calls

to that animal in all of us, challenging us to crawl out of our holes to

stand in the sunlight, blinding and burning in the final self release of an

epiphany in the midst of a hurricane.

Thank you Tofu.
