In 1997 when the Spice Girls were the face of girl power in music, Australias own RocknRoll High School was cooking up the real thing. Enter Tirany, the cream of Melbournes girl rockers, four girls who developed at RocknRoll High School. RnRHS is a unique garage of girl bands that attracted international stars such as Babes in Toyland, Bikini Kill, L7, Hole, Sonic Youth, Beck and Queens of the Stone Age.

Unsatisfied with sitting around at high school reading Dolly magazine and watching the boys play guitar, these 14 year old girls were out for something more. While their friends were counting calories, Tirany were counting beats. They dreamed of playing their own brand of killer rocknroll. Against the odds of a blokey dominated music scene, Tirany has become one of underground Melbournes favourite live rock outfits.

In early 1997 Tirany recorded a self-titled 3-track demo, engineered by Greg Long and mixed by Patrick Thrasher at Can Am studios in Los Angeles, USA. One of the tracks off this demo, Three Star, appears on the compilation RocknRoll High School Vol 3.

Tirany went back into the studio in 2001 to record their debut 4-drack EP Are We There Yet? which received rave reviews from local industry press and JJJ airplay. Track four from the EP, So Long, also features on RocknRoll High School Vol 4, Australian Rolling Stones Noise compilation, and was released internationally on LA based coolgrrrls.coms CD entitled Cool Girls Kick Ass which features girl bands from 12 countries. Tirany are track one.

". infectious pop rock quartet. Tirany have been able to get more exposure, airplay and more live shows with such a fine EP behind them." Beat Magazine 2003

For the last eight years Tirany have performed at all of Melbourne's best live music venues, playing with local and international acts including Magic Dirt, Body Jar, Warped , Blueline Medic, The Spazzys, Nitocris and Litany. With consistantly solid live shows and airplay on JJJ, RRR, PBS, 3CR, and LA radio station K-Rock, Tirany has established a substantial following in Australia's underground rock scene.

"Poppy punky Tirany are just starting to get the attention they long deserved and if 'So Long' is any indication, things will finally go their way"Beat Magazine 2003

'2 second time delay' is Tirany's impressive follow up to their debut EP 'Are We There Yet?' Recorded over 2004, it was co-produced by Cameron Baines (Bodyjar), and engineered by Richard Stolz (After The Fall, Behind Crimson Eyes) and Greg Long (Spazzys, Mach Pelican). Tirany's '2 second time delay' is a step up from their highly acclaimed debut EP, and is set to be the surprise release of 2005.

". I found '2 Second Time Delay' enchanting and constantly on my stereo. The fact that Tirany are Australian does nothing but boost my belief in our music industry and this is one EP that you should have in your collection" www.punknetwork.net 2005
