Tinkara is Slovenia's absolutely and by far most popular and celebrated young female pop-rock singer/songwriter - born in 1978, a degree in classical flute, speaks seven languages.

Signs her first record deal in 1997 and delivers an certified gold album, winning two Zlati Petelin awards (the Slovenian Grammies). Guest-stars in the Terra Mystica project, a crossover of world music, jazz & rock, and earns herself another two of the same awards.

In 1999 her second album is released, goes gold & platinum, and wins four Zlati Petelins (best album, song, artist, production), practically overruling all competition. The record is graced by an impressive six hit singles, one of these chosen by London's MP3 TV Now as best video & track, and featured on the MP3.com CD compilation album.

Between 2000 and 2001 for Tinkara it's time for a new record deal with Dallas Records (EMI/Virgin Slovenia) and a third album, further expanding and estabilishing her role as main songwriter of her own music. The release goes gold, and spawns five hit singles & videoclips. Tinkara performs & records with Carlos Nunez, wins an impressive number of festivals and awards both in Slovenia and abroad, and becomes the first Slovenian artist to be featured in a full hour long documentary on German national television and to top the first ever MTV video chart for Slovenia. Performing live with her own band, she plays some 30 to 60 concerts a year, including already 6 sold-out yearly events at the famous Cankarjev Dom of Ljubljana -Slovenia's version of the Royal Albert Hall- usually exclusive to classical music and gala events and unattainable to pop-rock performers. But that cannot be such a surprise – given the fact that, for example, her special guest in 2004 was none other than Ian Anderson (who later gladly returned the honour, inviting Tinkara to guest with him & orchestra in Italy, and with his legendary Jethro Tull in Croatia, Austria, Germany and Italy – more than that, and a real raritiy in its' own right, the Tull rehearse & perform a live cover of one of Tinkara's singles!). The world-renowned ISC, International Songwriting Competition, with a panel of star-judges and music industry wizards such as Metheney, BB King, Rob Thomas, Nile Rodgers, Arif Mardin, Jimmy Bralower and others, picks a track from “O-range” amidst 11.000 entries from 60 countries and rates it as one of the top 10 in the international pop-rock category.

Tinkara's music has successfully begun reaching outward and gaining whilrwind attention of foreign media and music fans: first & foremost, with her latest, internationally licensed and international guest-star studded album “O-range” (Dallas Records-EMI Int'l), featuring the likes of Mike Peters of The Alarm, Carlos Nunez of Chieftains fame, Dan Lavery of Tonic, Italian songwriting legend Massimo Bubola and top blues guitar virtuoso Tolo Marton, and many others. Next, with “Enigma”, a multilingual, sophisticated limited-edition special project for Slovenia & Italy only, featuring orchestral remakes of some of her oldest hits, some exclusive & live material, and lyrics in English, Italian, Slovenian and Friulan.

On the concert front, Tinkara's explosive live act, both with her full scale rocking band or her impressive, intimate “aQstic” trio has hit home with audiences all over Italy, including some major festival events (AstiMusica, Onde Mediterranee, Premi Friul, 5 Terre Art Fest, etc) and a historical, unique concert with Italian star songstress Elisa, from a stage placed right on the border line between Italy & Slovenia, drawing a crowd of over 8000, freely circulating and crossing the state line on that special occasion. And, to top it all, in fall 2005, the Vatican invited Tinkara as solo guest flutist and only foreign star, leading the Vatican's Symphonic Orchestra directed by Mons.Frisina, playing to a crowd of 185.000 in St.Peter's square, Rome.

Italian, UK and USA journalists and reviewers alike have been keen and enthusiastic in pointing out one simple fact: which successful female artist in the whole world, today, merges and embodies songwritership, rock sounds, chart topping pop potential, a voice to die for and virtuoso rock flute playing? There is only one answer – Tinkara.
