Tim May is a world-class guitarist, resophonic guitarist, and mandolinist who started out playing banjo in the family band growing up in Mississippi. Hearing Tony Rice and Dan Crary made a flatpicking guitarist convert out of him in a big way, and Tim has spent years exploring and pushing his craft.

He recently toured Japan with JOHN COWAN and has performed with PATTY LOVELESS, CHARLIE DANIELS, and EDDIE RABBIT promoting their CD projects, and he performed as a regular on the Grand Ole Opry in the Mike Snider Band. He spent nearly 15 years in the critically acclaimed "newgrass" group, CRUCIAL SMITH. He's toured the country with the BRAD DAVIS BAND, including appearances at various festivals and the NAMM showcase (opening for John Mayer and Phil Keaggy), he's been a member of RADIOLA, and he's performed on-call alongside performers like WIL MARING & ROBERT BOWLIN and RICHARD GILEWITZ. Tim was the solo guitarist on "I'll Fly Away" (from

Charlie Daniels' "Songs From the Long-Leaf Pines" album), a song nominated for a Grammy for Country Instrumental of the Year in 2005. He was one of the central performers and the primary chartist for the "Moody Bluegrass" projects that married the best bluegrass instrumentalists and singers with classic Moody Blues music. He was the producer, lead singer, and multi-instrumentalist on CMH Records' "Bluegrass Tribute to Neil Young", and in 2008 was asked to produce "Flatpicking Bluegrass" for the FGM Records label. He's an accomplished singer-songwriter of original material as well, as evidenced by his solo CD, "Find My Way Back".

Tim has been a featured artist and writer for Flatpicking Guitar Magazine and has regularly judged the National Flatpicking Guitar Championship in Winfield, Kansas. Elixir Strings and Breedlove Guitars both have presented professional endorsements to Tim, a serious nod to his talents. As a Breedlove clinician, he has held numerous flatpicking guitar workshops at Breedlove guitar dealers across the country, as well as Nashville Guitar College and South Plains College, and private workshops. In 2008, he was chosen to participate in MURIEL ANDERSON's "All Star Guitar Night" at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, alongside Anderson, VICTOR WOOTEN, LARRY CARLTON, and THOM BRESH. He is also a popular teacher at acoustic music camps across the country, including the Alaska Traditional Music Camp, The Colorado Roots Music Camp, The Acoustic Music Camp, Camp Bluegrass, The 3 Day Traditional Music Day Camp, NashCamp, and Tim's own guitar camp, The Nashville Guitar Academy, which he has taught with Pat Flynn and Stefan Papasoff. He's also held other various workshops and concerts at a venue that he and his wife, Gretchen Priest own in Pegram, Tennessee, called The Fiddle & Pick building, home of the Musical Heritage Center of Middle Tennessee.

Tim's songs "Father Time" and "King of Babylon" appear on Pat Flynn's latest CD, reVision. Tim is currently working as part of a band called PLAIDGRASS, which plays interesting mix of Irish, Scottish, Old Time and Bluegrass tunes.
