Balance,
Philosophically, in order to lead a rich, fulfilling life, make a viable contribution to mankind and society, and keep your sanity in the process, one need achieve balance.
Tim picked up a guitar when he was 9 or 10 and put it down. Didn't interest him. Too busy thinking of baseballs, riding bike, and catching frogs. He had enough balance in his life.
In his early teens he stayed the course with his daytime activities but at night he stole away in his room and surrounded himself with music from the radio and a gigantic assortment of cassettes filled with classic rock, folk, country, blues, funk and jazz. The music world opened up and he absorbed it like a sponge. Different genres, styles, methods, all came together inside him.
A little older and he was swept away by heavy metal. Metallica, Static X, all very cool to a 16 year old. Then he picked the guitar back up.
Balance. The radio and cassettes were put away for an Epiphone SG. He threw himself into guitar and learned quickly. Before long he was thrashing out Metallica rifts and writing simple songs. Potential but lacking something.balance.
After graduating from High School , Tim enrolled in College and aspired to go into business for himself. His love for the outdoors and music threw off balance necessary to seriously consider the structure required of a business major. He couldn't grab hold of a future reading balance sheets. He still wanted to commune with nature, be active outdoors and make music.
Jump ahead: Switched from Business to Education to Biology. Walks in the woods checking out trees and frogs, mountain biking, hiking, fishing, and kayaking.writing songs, lots of songs. This time around they have the balance. It's a beautiful thing to watch and listen. Poetic lyrics, fluid guitar work, and a melodic voice straight from his soul. At 22 years, Tim has achieved a balance in his life that comes out in his music. When you truly listen, it feels right.melody woven with lyric, hands at one with strings , an extension from his heart, soul, and spirit.
Balance.
In a brief music career, Tim Harakal has played in coffee shops and pubs from the Lehigh Valley to Philly to Reading, PA. Playing mainly from a cache of original tunes and select covers, Tim leaves his audience feeling contente. His easy going, friendly demeanor is calming. Want to have a conversation with a friend over a drink or listen intently to his poetry? No problems, either will provide a nice night out.
Tim has been a finalist in the Lehigh Valley Acoustic Performance Contest with Jules Gavin in 07 and Solo in 08. Tim and Jules took home the award in 09 along with a Lehigh Valley Music Award for "Best Duo". He's gained the respect of local musicians and fans who've had to the opportunity to catch his act. No doubt, his career is on the rise. Look for good things.
