THROWN was formed in early 2005, when Dave Lawson (guitar), Luke Felton (guitar), and Chaz Hunter (vocals) broke off from another project they had been working on together. A project which they all felt wasn't going anywhere. Dave, Luke and Chaz began writing songs together, while at the same time searching for a drummer and a bass player. After a few months of fruitless searching, Dave decided to call a drummer he had worked with for 7 years in another Chicago metal band named, WITHDRAWAL. Kevin Smith (drums) was playing for a band called THE JOYNT CHIEFZ at the time. And that project, coincidentally, was more-or-less falling apart at the time when Dave initially contacted Kevin. (Timing is everything, huh?) So Kevin, excited at the prospect of working with his good friend Dave again, came on board, and began working with Dave, Luke and Chaz on the material they were putting together.

Now it was time to find a bass player. A couple more months of searching put the guys in contact with a bass player named Ted Seil. Ted joined the band, and began learning their new originals very quickly. Many different band names were thought of, and researched, by the guys, and after a few weeks Kevin and Dave, after bouncing a couple of ideas off of each other, came up with the name, THROWN. Everyone liked it, and the band booked it's first show for the night before Thanksgiving ("Black Wednesday") in 2005; at a place called, The Jefferson Tap in Melrose Park, IL; a Chicago suburb.

THROWN continued to play out, and they also recorded a 4-song demo CD at Dave Uhrich's studio. Which, everyone agreed, was a very strong demo. THROWN continued to play out until August of 2006, when Ted (bass) was offered a lucrative job working in Arizona. And Kevin (drums) was offered a job working nights; which he initially thought would make it impossible for him to continue with the band. So, THROWN took a hiatus, and Luke and Chaz immediately embarked on a new project together, which was called, MISSION TO MURDER. A few weeks into his new night job, Kevin realized that he actually WOULD be able to continue with the band, and let the other guys know as soon as he found that out. However, Luke and Chaz felt it would be more in their best interests to keep MISSION TO MURDER going instead. They had a drummer, and were working on some new material of their own.

Call it fate, or whatever you will, but in December 2006, MISSION TO MURDER's drummer was killed, tragically, in a traffic accident. A few weeks after that, Luke & Chaz expressed interest to Dave & Kevin in putting THROWN back together; which they did. Paul Dybowski replaced Ted Seil on bass, and the band began tightening up their originals, in order to start playing out. THROWN began playing out once again, in early 2007; and things were sounding great at the shows! Things seemed to be going fine until a small argument that erupted in October of 2007 somehow turned into a big one. And once again, Luke and Chaz, and eventually Paul all left THROWN.

Dave and Kevin never questioned whether or not they would continue working together as THROWN. They were/are 100% committed to the project! So, a search for a new vocalist and bass player began in November of 2007. After almost 5 months, the search produced Jim Brown on vocals, and Mike Stellwagon on bass. THROWN knuckled-down right away, and began teaching and re-working their originals with the new members. THROWN went back to Dave Uhrich's studio to make a new demo with the new members, and began to book shows again. The band had only played out a few times in 2008, when Jim (vocals) informed the band that this wasn't the direction he wanted to be taking. So, Jim Brown parted ways with THROWN at that point. Another 5 & 1/2 month search ensued, and didn't produce any results. So finallly, Kevin (drums) decided to track down a vocalist he'd been in a previous band with, several years back. The band was called DEACON, and the vocalist was Ted "Sweaty Teddy" DeHart. Kevin gave Ted a call, and as it happend, Ted was both available.and interested! Once Dave (guitar) and Mike (bass) met with Ted, and began jamming with him, the consensus was that the 4 of them could and would make a formidable metal band! THROWN is currently working together now, getting material ready so they can start playing out again as soon as possible! Stay tuned folks - this is gonna be great!!
