Throttle was formed in 2003 by vocalist Mike Winrow and Drummer Martyn Watts. Throttle became a full band when lead guitarist Adam Wardle and bassist Ben Warburton joined them. That’s when things kicked off and Throttle started writing material and constantly gigging.

In that time they recorded a self titled four track E.P. sadly Adam and Ben decided that enough was enough and they wanted to leave the band due to future plans and musical directions. So Martyn and Mike where left to find two more members so that Throttle could continue.

They hired Mark Teasdale, a personal friend of the band. As their new bassist as they was impressed with his song writing ability and he was hired the night Adam and Ben left. Now they had a bass player all what was left was to find a worthy lead guitarist to complete the band. This process was long and pain staking due to Throttle only being able to recruit only the one. The competition was fierce and it was a hard decision to make but at the end we had only one person in mind. He was the guitarist, which caught the eyes of Throttle within the space of 5 minutes of his audition. His name was Chris Jones and despite being the youngest auditionee his outstanding performance rightfully earned his place in Throttle as the new lead guitarist.

Once Throttle was reformed they practised until the were ready to gig again, since then they have gigged in many towns and cities across the U.K supporting bigger bands and headlining bigger venues. Also doing live sessions on the radio and being interviewed.

years of constant gigging has seen throttle support and appear on the same bill as:

SAXON

ALESTORM

DIAMOND HEAD

DR. FEELGOOD

REMAIN

STRAIN

GLAMOUR OF THE KILL

DEAR SUPERSTAR

Throttle also made their debut t.v apperance on the popular t.v show Richard and Judy.

In October 2006, Throttle went into the studio with Digi-wave producer Mark Hampson (who is also the front man of the Goth metal band Sinnergod) and recorded their first full-length album titled "Forged In Metal". It was released in March 2007 and brought with it much of Throttles success.

The album has since sold hundreds of copies and been reviewed by some top magazines, one being American magazine Hard Rock Haven, who gave the record 8.5/10 describing it "With excellent vocals, hard-edged retro/new-metal guitar riffs and a familiar vibe, the record grabs the listener by the throat, demanding attention." and saying "metal was born in England and these guys are doing a great job representing new metal while sustaining some of the best attributes of classic metal." (See blog for more)

Unfortunately, in early 2008 bassist mark teasdale decided to throw in the towel and leave throttle, this came as a shock to everyone but due to growing tensions in the band we all decided it was for the best and wished him luck as he left.

We have recently added Shepp to the Throttle line-up as our new bassist. we approched him after his bnd Cerberus broke up. we had seen him play after we played with them at a gig in Wigan and was inpressed with his arrgressive stage presance. at the audition he seemed really keen and we was impressed with his abilities. will be giging and writing with him in no time. . .so watch this space!
