The Houston, Tx. based post- hardcore group This Year's Tiger formed in 2006. Debuting w/ a Self-Titled EP the band began it's journey swiftly gaining popularity through peers and a steady growing fan base. After playing countless shows locally and abroad supporting the record, the band would later team up w/ Johnny Rioux (Street Dogs) to record a sophomore 7" release "Living In The Mirror." The B side single "Murphy's Luck" became a fan favorite. Somewhere between the two records another popular TYT song "Your Face Has No Melody" was featured on a compilation titled " Houston In Lights." Flooded w/ positive reviews and support the band played along side many well known national acts and continued spinning their wheels forward, but like any band TYT has faced its ups and downs. In over four years they've gained notoriety and felt moderate success, but now they want to take it to the next level. Personnel changes along the way are definitely hard especially w/ great players and friends, but it's necessary sometimes for a bands growth. In May of 2010 This Year's Tiger disbanded, however, half of the group reformed within a little over a month. Currently active again the band have a refreshing new line up and sound as they're ready to create their finest work to date.
Justin Blumenstock (vocals/ guitar) and Jeff Jones (drums) remained onboard recruiting new member Justin Perry (former bassist of The A.K.A.s) to the family. A short time later Jake Rynearson (ex- TYT/ guitarist) would rejoin the band to complete the team.
The new material focuses on a "back- to- basics" approach to rock n' roll consisting of smart song writing w/ big, big riffs and plenty of harmonized vocals to sweeten the deal. Future recording plans are under way and will be announced soon.
