This Promise started during the summer of '07. 20 year old, Thomas Ortiz is the only memeber, playing all the instruments and handling all the recordings he has ever done, including his new full legth album, "Something Real" (itunes, amazon, lala). He was hard at work for a year and a half recording the album, making a change in genre, as opposed to his unreleased "This Promise" EP which consisted mainly of piano rock compositions. It's hard to believe that the new record was recorded in a cramped third floor apartment. "I had no idea how I was going to pull this off", he said. "I really needed to record a full cd, and I decided that nothing was going to get in my way". Deciding to change his genre, Ortiz knew he was going to have to step up to the plate and deleiver a more rocky, indie sound. "Are You With Me?", a song composed by Tom and Cameron Rees (featured vocals), reflected to a degree the "This Promise" EP, considering the definite popy piano rock sound. Tom is unsure at this point as to what he will deliver next. "My music is a surprise to everyone including me. I'll know my genre after the next album is done and on sale", he laughed.
