Wake of Destruction stands upon the principal that groove and power are of the utmost importance. Heavy grooves laced with soulfully laid out leads have been a staple of their music since inception, this has allowed the band to play across many different genres of music. This band does not and will never attempt to reinvent the stylistic wheel of music. Rather, the bands members attempt to incorporate as much diversity and style as possible. In fact, one of the bands favorite phrases is, “Wake of Destruction song? What is a Wake of Destruction song?”

Wake of Destruction began as a basement endeavor called “Compared 2 What?” in June of 2004. Original members Scott Warnke (Rhythm Guitar), Nick Candela (Lead Guitar), and Jeff Welch (Drummer) formed a threesome of hard rock/metal music writing and decided to take their music to the streets.

The band found singer Ryan Vronch and bassist Chris Dumas and began playing small venues around the Lapeer/Genesee area around June of 2006 as Wake of Destruction. Vronch’s razor like vocals combined with the deep and rich metal grooves produced a sound described as, “Something you can dance to or that makes you want to punch someone in the face.” (Wake Fans)

Wake played its first significant show at the Machine Shop of Flint in July 2006 on a Wednesday night and has not looked back since. Building on success from a large local following, the band has taken advantage of opportunities to share the stage with many national acts such as Drowning Pool, Five Finger Death Punch, Hatebreed, God Forbid, Machine Head, Powerman 5000, Mushroomhead, and most recently Kittie.

Several lineup changes have occurred since 2006. The band acquired new singer Kevin Scott (January 2009) and bassist Josh Cross (December 2009), both of whom were Flint area musicians. These acquisitions sent Wake in somewhat of a new musical direction. Kevin blessed the band with the ability to sing with both grace and power, while Josh added melodic consistency to the low end.

Currently, the band is writing and performing in the Flint area frequently, with plans to record a studio album in the near future. The band continues to feed its fans original heavy hitters like First Impression, Awakening, and Wrath. However, Wake has also developed a more melodic side with new tracks like Solitude and Bring out your Dead, both featuring active melodies and dynamic vocals. The rest has yet to write itself…
