The Vacants were a London-based punk band, playing in and around the captial for a good seven years before other commitments forced 'em to split in 2007. This page is gonna stay up as a tribute to one of the finest live acts punk rock ever produced. Don't believe us? Read Raoul Pablo Vasquez's review.

"As an ever-increasing number of Londoners will surely agree, the Vacants are a perfect example of that rare breed, a truly original punk rock group, both in terms of sound and style. One might easily point out that the name chosen by these four young men is a little hackneyed, but once you've heard their most recent "Fuck Off and Die" EP you get the feeling that were you to mention that, they'd rip your throat out. The bands sound is both inventive and versatile, drawing on a wide range of influences, from rockabilly to ska, garage to oi!, and it is this seemingly effortless blend of genres that makes every note an electrifying experience, every gig unforgettable. These kids are used to opening slots in front of small crowds, but to watch them play is to know that they don't care. Singer Joey Vacant thrashes his bass wildly, howling like a man posessed, only now it doesn't seem like such a clichè. Colin Patterson is perhaps the most entertaining rhythm guitarist I have ever seen, his instrument slung intimidatingly low, cigarette dangling from his lips. Patrick Cassidy pogos relentlessly while teasing out awesome guitar solos, while Sam Derbyshire's drum work is a perfect fusion of technical prowess and raw, bruising energy, holding it all together. Catch them while you can, as its not likely anything this damn cool will be around for long."
