Who we are is really not important. We aren't about image, and we aren't about making money (and its a good thing, too, because we haven't made a dime yet). We could fit into molds and be much more successful, and make cookie cutter, profitable songs about nothing, but we find that is much less interesting than personal, original music with a relevant message to the general populace. The art of being in a rock band has gone sour in certain places. Art has closed its mind. Without open minds, art is bullshit.

We adhere to a strict DIY philosophy. Out sound has been accused of being "too metal," and we often catch flak for the use of vocal improvisation and guitar solos. If you want to hear the same old generic punk rock, you've come to the wrong place. You can tell us we aren't a punk band all you want, because we are what we are, and nothing you say will change that. There are bands that make it big who are fortunate enough, brave enough, or both, to stick to their guns and refuse to compromise their artistic integrity in the face of opposition from their producers or their fans. We respect those bands as much as we respect bands that are playing in dives every day, putting out their own material and struggling to keep it together day to day.

Constant vigilance is required if you ever want to make a change. We believe in civil disobedience, but acknowledge that we haven't written the fascistic rules that have society in a strangle hold. We are realists and idealists, in that we hope for peace, but expect its antithesis.

Who we are is not important. The important thing is what we stand for. Whether you love us or hate us, don't base your judgement on trivialities. Judge the character, not the packaging.

The cover for the Static Idols DVD, coming out from Orange Chair Productions December of 06.
