Metal fans, it's time to warm up the circle pit! Ohio-based These Last Few are ready to break out of Ohio and thrash it up in your town.
Childhood friends Jason Johnson (drums) and Scott Watkins (guitar) began recording rough thrash metal-style demos in 2002. Ryan Lakes (guitar/vocals) and Brad Pant (bass) stopped by one day in 2005 to record tracks for their own band. One garage jam session later, the four became These Last Few. "We went through a million different names," says Lakes, "and finally got down to 'the last few' on the list. It struck us then to call ourselves These Last Few."
The group recorded a six-song EP at Johnson's home studio in 2006. The album has a post-hardcore/melodic thrash metal style with a strong, two-guitar presence (more like two-guitar attack!). It's a style reminiscent of early Atreyu and Bullet For My Valentine with pre-Black album Metallica-style solos.
They've played tons of shows across Ohio, building their fan base one performance at a time. "We approach a show by not putting the emphasis on the band," says Lakes, "but on the music we are playing." Their technique has won over even the most stubborn haters.
These Last Few are currently writing songs for an upcoming full-length album.
