THE REMNANT PROJECT

The Remnant Project consists of three multitalented emcees out of Virginia: Jah I Witness, Kinetic and Range da Messenga, all who are dedicated to the preservation of true hip-hop culture and spoken expression. The group officially formed in early 2005 but they have been working together on various projects since 1997 at VA Tech where Jah I and Kinetic attended school while Range was doing music in Roanoke, nearby.

The trio has formed a cohesive musical unit with strong backgrounds in soul, reggae, jazz, and spoken word. The fusion of the prominent genres of urban African music leaves the listener with a sense of familiarity, yet it still manages to be quite original. Their collective mission is to bring purpose and unity back to the forefront of hip-hop music, while educating and entertaining the masses.

Kinetic (Erich Tucker) is a super cerebral rhyme juggernaut from Richmond, VA whose musical experiences span from song production to music video programming to website design, and just about everything in between. His many experiences in and outside of the industry have provided him with an infinite amount of subject matter to expound upon while spitting intricate rhymes over tracks. Kinetic was influenced heavily by: Kool G Rap, Slick Rick, Special Ed, and many of the great storytellers of the late '80's and early '90's.

Jah I Witness Emcee (Genesis Osagboro) is an eclectic creative genius out of Petersburg, Va. His musical journey started when he was a small child traveling with his father, Olamina, a member of Arts Awareness Ensemble (A.A.E.), a very influential force in introducing African culture and reggae music to the mid-Atlantic region. Genesis is a veteran emcee and gained invaluable experience and growth performing with The Barefoot Crew and True Sound, a live hip-hop band, based out of VA Tech. The extreme amounts musical exposure has molded Jah I into one of the best producers you have never heard. His production fuels a majority of the work put forth by the Remnant Project and his ability to paint pictures vocally through ryhme and also singing is a rare treat that the listening audience is sure to enjoy.

Range da Messenga (Wayne Hancock II) is a urban music disciple with musical origins in gospel, soul and hip hop. His father and mother were big supporters of his musical education, placing him in various instrumental lessons at age 6. As he matured, he found that his singing and rhyming ability parallel each other, as he was able to express himself through both mediums. Influences from Take 6 to Rakim to New Edition and everything soulful in between helped coach him to be adept in vocal harmony arrangement and monstrous rhyme writing. Range has been in numerous groups ranging from gospel to R&B to soul and rap.

The Remnant Project's innovative and fresh approach to music will leave you educated as well as entertained. Their music is an overwhelmingly positive alternative and antidote for the meaningless music being pumped into the airwaves. As the times seem to be getting more perilous and as negative news is more prevalent in today's society, Remnant Project stands poised to be a beacon of music light for eyes and ears to follow.
