With the release of the beautifully abrasive e.p. Honesty In Zeros and Ones, Mark Jamrozek has found the synapse between bittersweet melody and feral acoustic guitars to invoke a guided tour of his insides. Full of infectious metaphor and lyrically smart hooks, Honesty in Zeros and Ones is the result of courageous, hundred mile-an-hour thinking. "Everything you hear is the color of a feeling", says the singer/songwriter. "What comes out is a time bomb with the wires crossed. You never know when its going to detonate".
Honesty in Zeros and Ones is as unsafe as it is stunning. Produced by close friend and engineer Mike Hari, who has worked with such artists as Fall Out Boy and Spitalfield, Honesty In Zeros and Ones is filled with brave vocals and hard spoken story lines. "Its about hope and loss you cant escape from and the inevitable honesty you have to face", says Jamrozek. In tracks like This Is Murder, Lab Coats for Couriers and Disappearing, My Miss Lucky Break, the listener gets an ear full of some of the most thoughtful and intelligent vocals in recent memory. "You can get lost in the semantics and feeling. And thats what is important, for it to be different to everyone".
Recorded and mixed at famed Gravity Studios Chicago and mastered at Sterling Sound New York, Honesty in Zeros and Ones is the first record released by Jamrozek. "It took me months to complete everything. As a solo artist, money and perfectionism were serious constraints. Some of the songs were literally done in one take. Others took weeks, but I couldnt settle. I needed it to be exactly what I saw. There isnt a lie in the entire record. Its all true".
If you ask Jamrozek for his story, he will tell you he doesn't have one. "The music comes from memories and places that are both beautiful and scary at the same time; sometimes I hate going there. Im trying to get as much exposure as I can playing shows and getting myself out there. As a solo artist, that road can be a difficult one, but in the end, Im committed until death do us part. If they havent heard of me, they will soon".
{This record was mixed and produced by Mike Hari (Fall out Boy, Spitalfield, Witroy, Scheflo) at Gravity Studios and The Vault in Chicago. It was mastered by Jay Franco (Beastie Boys, Le Tigre, The Neptunes) at Sterling Sound in New York City.
