MAGIC / MR. NINTH WARD

Magic (Awood Johnson) began making his name known in the South around the New Orleans underground circuit. His first break came when he crossed paths with C-Murder, brother of Master P at a party, and impressed him with his rhymes. Master P signed him to his No Limit label, with the intention of Magic joining TRU, but Master P then decided he rap on the parent label with a larger fan outreach. Magic was not pleased with this decision, and later he and Master P parted ways.

Magic continues to represent the Ninth Ward of New Orleans and is often called "Mr. Ninth Ward." He is also known for the initials "CTC" or "cross-the-canal," which refers to the canal that runs through the 9th ward, the Industry Canal.

Magic has now signed with TVT Records, and will release his album next year.
