Kare-Lezz INTERVIEW WITH I SUPPOSE

1. Let people know whats good. How is KARE-LEZZ and what can they expect from you?

First of all, shout out to you and all that your doing for hip hop, I see you Mr. Suppose!!! Me, just stayin me man gettin away from all the glitz n glamour people get caught up in out here on the West and stayin' true to Hip Hop (the basics). My name is Kare-Lezz cuz I don't Kare about the industry politics in the game right now and I spell it with a K cuz I WANT TO! haha I hail outta North Long Beach, tha big homie is Crooked I and yes indeed, I am C.O.B. certified! Shout out to tha Circle! Horseshoe what it do?!?!! You can only expect REAL hip hop outta me homie, no watered down bullshit, thats what I got in it for and thats what I want people to get out of me, truth!

2. How long have you been in the rap game and how did you get started?

Well, I've been in the rap game for just a few years now, since about 2001 when I got out of Y.A. off of a five year bid but I've been rapping for 16 years now! So, they gon' call me 'New' but I aint new at this shit at all! I started when I was about 12 writin' poetry and I was listenin to Cypress Hill, Da Brat, n Kriss Kross.lol.So, I dropped my first song when I was 13 to that 'If I could just kill a man' beat and the rest is history!

3. Who were your main influences and how did they influence you?

My main influences at first were 2pac, Kriss Kross, Coolio, Ice Cube, Public Enemy.anybody remember that group 'Quo'.lol oh yeah, and tha L.B.C. Crew.shout out to tha homie Techniec! But as my style devolped and I got older I started listening to Bone Thugz, Big L, Biggie, Jada, Immortal Techniec, Crooked I, Chino XL, Tech N9ne, and Canibus which changed my style completely! So, I went from a kid rappin like Cypress Hill n Kriss Kross, to soundin like Bone when I was a teen, to soundin like Tech N9ne, to soundin like Canibus, Chino XL, and Crooked Iand you put that all together in 16 years, now I sound like Kare-Lezz!

4. Now for the good stuff.Tell people about your new mixtape, Whats up with that?

My new mixtape is called Westinitis! Tryna spread it around like a disease man! Like tha big homie Crooked I told me, Hip Hop is a body, and we gotta infect this shit to take over! My personal take is the WestCoast is the Muscle of Hip Hop, the EastCoast is the brains (who started it all), the Mid-West is the legs keepin us movin, running even, and the South is the Heart! The arms of Hip Hop are everyone overseas doing it, reaching out. State of Hip Hop now, we got too much heart, good legs, strong arms, strong brain, but they all forgot about the muscle.so, we gotta infect the body, make it sick (let it die even) and resurrect the Body in Full form, utilizing all the tools we need to keep the body alive! The Industry has been blackballing the West since the downfall of Suge maybe because their scared of another Suge, but nonetheless, theres too many artist's out here now just like me and they can't stop ithence, the emergence of a NEW body of Hip Hop that we can all take part in, and the Muscle (WestCoast) got no choice but to do it by FORCE! Enough of that though.lol.what your gonna get from my mixtape is hip hop in its purest form, WestCoast mentallity, EastCoast flow, Mid-West Soul, and a Southern Heart to take this shit worldwide! Who wit me?!!?!

5. What did you decide to give it that title?

I'm from the West and we want our movement to spread like a disease (we aint tryna stay pigeon-holed as just a WestCoast movement, we international!).it was the first thing to come to mind so I ran wit it! Our slogan is 'GET INFECTED'!

6. When did you start working on it and who was involved in it?

Features? Producers?

Its crazy but, as long as I've been rapping, I've never actually put out a project! EVER! I've been signed twice, and you know how that goes so after every quarrel with the label, all my music hit the vault! Which is why I'm including some of my old shit on the mixtape and they can't sue me cuz its free =) So, we've been working on it for over a year now getting everything in place. Of course I gotta have the big homie Crooked I on, we got my other big homie Chino XL on it, tha homie X.O. from BWS, and I reached out to Sly Boogy, Dirty Birty, and Bad Lucc who may or may not make the mixtape but I hope we get it in soon for the nexx project! Aside from that, I didn't want too many co-signs, just tha homiez that I truly look up to out here, and the rest is all me, includin my close homiez in my Got Lyrics circle, Tec, SUPe, Sho Nuff, my lil Bro Profecy, and Venezi.

7. What can people expect from your music? What does your music have that most other artists on the west coast lack?

Passion! Substance! Hip Hop spirit! Seems like A LOT of rappers out here in tha game for all the wrong reasons and you can hear it in their music. I'm not a hater at all though, if someone comes up to me or asks me to peep their shit, I do.usually just to be disapointed but I give anyone a chance. Now that the West is getting more exposure and the gates are opening a lil bit the West has once again been saturated with fake ass 2pac's, fake ass hustlers who don't know the first thing bout REALLY hustlin', fake ass GangBangers that we already see in it, and fake ass wanna be ass so called M.C.'s who shouldn't have quit their day job! I LOVE this shit man, thats why the mixtape is free, I just wanna be heard and maybe that one seed that spreads will become something helps keep hip hop alive! Not just the West but the industry needs to wake the fuck up! Either way though, I'm here to stay, on me!

8. Once your mixtape drops, What are you going to as far as promotion? What strategies are you doing to use in order to get your music out there?

First and foremost is myspace! Its a free marketing tool that a lot of people don't take advantage of, yet a lot of peepz do (look at Sean Kingston). If you use it right, not gettin at no females and actin like u tha hardest, but if you use it for marketing urself, your music will get across the world, easily, you just gotta grind hard! Second strategy is of course the streets! We have a full on Got Lyrics street team already that are GRINDERS!! So we're ready to flood the streets wit this shit too! Last but not least, shows! shows shows shows! Thats how you can get loyal fans to buy ur album when it comes out! I've found that the internet is key though! I'm on Twitter, myspace, facebook, AIM, all that, we're about to flood sites like DatPiff, Allhiphop, hiphopdx, dubcnn, taking over forums, blogs, ustream, spreading the word! This generation X mothafuckaz! hahaha

9. Looking from the outside in, Do you think that your music has the potential to break barriers.Or is it just something you do for fun?

Def. break barriers! In my honest opinion, even though I like to be humble, I'm shittin' on most of tha mixtapes out right now! Without even trying! This is what I do! So, all you wack fake mumbojumbo ass rappers betta be on tha lookout cuz yo' dumbass will get infected!

10. How can people find your mixtape once it drops?

Any sites?

first place we're gonna drop it is www.datpiff.com and kinda see how it does there just flooding the link to it everywhere.we'll see from there.

12. Let folks know how to get in contact with you?

Myspace? Twitter? Email? Phone.lol.

All the above! hahaha I aint hard to find at all Myspace is www.kare-lezz.net or www.myspace.com/therealkareless, Twitter is KarelezzCOB, AIM is GOTLYRICSLBC, Ustream is channel www.ustream.com/channel/Karelezz, email is gotlyricslbc@gmail.com and my number is 562-325-9968.
