Looking for one!!!!!!
The fundamental basis of Rock and Roll is passion. There isn't anything else in the world that gives you
quite the same buzz as hearing a tune you love played loud, apart from playing a tune you crafted yourself really loud to people that love it.
Howie G (Guitar and Vocals), Lyndon Edwards (Bass) and John Mason (Drums) make music because they love it, no other reason. And it shows. Their passion is resplendent in every tune! These three guys did their first gig (a loose, unrehearsed jam!) at a party held in a house in Sandbach, North West England. This house was Sandbach Police Station a century or so ago and the lads played in the cellar, originally a jail cell!! Well, maybe it was the ghosts in those old walls but something forged a very powerful chemistry in that room that night.
The guys started rehearsing covers and found a three way chemistry that has gone from strength to strength. All three have very similar tastes in music and their influences, mainly '70's based rockers include Sabbath, Zeppelin, Purple, AC/DC, ZZ Top, Zappa, Nugent, Whitesnake, Rainbow, Dio, all the usual suspects. After the aforementioned party, The P.L.O.T. named themselves after one of John's t-shirts (a story for another day!) and set about doing covers gigs all over the North West of England and the Midlands. Some time later, an offer came in to play at a festival in mid-France. For this occasion the lads decided to write some of their own material and that's when things really started moving. The ideas and creativity flowed with blissful ease and the tunes for their first album were soon written. Self-financing recordings is difficult and it took over eighteen months to complete, a bit at a time. Undeterred as ever, The P.L.O.T. persevered, gigging hard, their chemistry, resolve and friendship growing stronger all the time.
In November 2007, The P.L.O.T.'s self titled debut album was released against all odds to critical acclaim ("We just want more, much more." Geoff Barton, Classic Rock magazine). Four tunes are available on this site.
The lads have continued a heavy touring schedule for the last few years including regular summer tours to France, (their only "holidays"), Since the first album the creative juices have continued to flow. Their second self-penned album, Rise of the Vanguard, is due for imminent release in May 2010. Four of the new tunes are available on this site.
The P.L.O.T. aren't pretty boys, in fact the rhythm section have been described as "grizzled old vets" but, at the top of their game. When you are at the top of your game the material speaks for itself.
The P.L.O.T.'s material transcends time and fashion barriers in a way that few bands have managed in recent years.
Let's hope that when you hear them, you feel as passionate about the music they create as they did about making it.
These boys do exactly what it says on the tin. ROCK!
