The Power and The Glory

THE POWER & THE GLORY walk the fine line between the worlds of crust punk, contemporary metal, epic rock and progressive hardcore. They create a post-everything musical bombardment that prizes intelligence, intensity, and passion.



"Call Me Armageddon," the group's debut full length, was released in 2004 on Deathwish Inc. The album is an awe inducing musical juggernaut recorded and produced by Kurt Ballou (Converge, Cave In).

They have toured the United States many times and have made appearances in Mexico and all over Europe.

The Atlanta, GA based group emerged in 2003 from the reinvention of long-running metallic hardcore stalwarts Downpour.



Decibel 2 November 2004 9/10 The Power & The Glory are what Entombed might have sounded like after To Ride, Shoot Straight, and Speak the Truth had they discovered Converge and Tragedy instead of Therapy? circa Semi-Detached. Basically, this albums starts off on the edge of out of control and precariously balances there for the 36-minute duration with a crusty, Swede metal guitar sound contorting crazed and disharmonic riffs and knocking boots with clanging, epileptic battery backed up by some of the sickest vocals basement shows and punk rock squat houses have ever heard. The first two tracks (“God & Gold” and “V is for Vulture”) are as explosive off the starting line as a NHRA drag race and as dangerous as a chain smoker in the pit area. Next, the title track possesses all the violent fervor, but with fleeting nods to Southern rock added and modified to kill everything within earshot. I could go on, but suffice to say this combustible motherfucker of a record doesn’t really ease up on your throat, ‘nads and eye sockets until more than halfway through with the eerie sounding “High Winds & Heavy Seas” which takes a familiar sounding chord progression and runs it through a Buzz Osborne-modified amplifier while vocalist Ezra Morris screams like a tortured banshee. Then it’s back to the musical barbed wire and the sonic battering that will become synonymous with this record before you make it to the end. Assuming you make it that far. –Kevin Stewart-Panko

Imagine a big fat jam session featuring members of DYSTOPIA, NEUROSIS, CONVERGE, ENEWETAK, BORN AGAINST, RINGWORM, and TODAY IS THE DAY. Pretty sweet, huh?
