RICARDO CASTILLON “Siempre en Mi Mente”
Remaining true to his deeply rooted passion for Tejano music, Ricardo Castillon recreates a medley of hit songs in his promising new CD entitled Siempre en Mi Mente scheduled just released in late August.
Just as the title of the album implies, “Siempre En Mi Mente is exactly that—a collection of hit songs from some of the most admired songwriters/artists that have influenced my career,” said Castillon. “The concept behind this CD has been lingering in my mind for some time, and I decided this was the right time to record these songs with my own interpretation.”
All-time favorite hits like the first single, “Tragos Amargos,”—a classic drinking song released this summer— is already escalating up Tejano music industry popularity lists, such as the Tejano Magazine Top Twenty Chart. Hits like the upbeat “Si Tu No Vuelves,” a song about a man yearning for the return of his lost love, and “Ojala Que Te Mueras,” will surely have Tejano fans gliding across dance halls all over Texas and beyond.
The much anticipated “hardcore Tejano” album contains a total of 10 past Latin Billboard chart topping hits: “Tatuajes,” “Me Dedique A Perderte,” “Si Tu No Vuelves,” “Tu De Que Vas,” “Ojala Que Te Mueras,” “Siempre en Mi Mente,” “Tragos Amargos,” “Popotitos,” “Y Como es El,” and “Hoy Tengo Ganas de Ti.” As a special treat for fans, the CD includes two bonus tracks in which Castillon embellishes his talents of a traditional troubadour in “Odiame” and “La Traidora,” accompanied by traditional mariachi ensemble.
“Some of my fans will remember these songs because they grew up with them; while others will be too young to remember them at all,” said Castillon. “In this album, I’ve introduced a solid hit in a more contemporary form; I am ready to set a new standard and raise the bar in the Tejano genre by exposing new audiences to an unpredictable quality of music.”
Unpredictable is right. The songs originally made popular by iconic groups and artists like Juan Gabriel, Joan Sebastian, Alejandro Fernandez, Grupo Pesado and Grupo Mazz, to name a few, are brought back in Siempre En Mi Mente by Castillon y La Diferenzia in a more modern-day form anchored with the natural Tejano flavor of each individual band player.
In order to treat all Tejano music fans anxiously awaiting an authentic Tejano CD, Castillon partnered up with some of the genre’s best musicians. Grupo MAZZ genius Brando Mireles, partner Manuel Garza, accordion thriller Homero Esquivel, Adrian Regalado, and Eddie Perez all collaborated in Siempre en Mi Mente.
Castillon guarantees that each song included in Siempre en Mi Mente “is Tejano to the core, because Tejano lives in many forms—Jazz, International, Pop, and Mexican Regional influences.”
