Jimmy Hall has the kind of voice that makes a woman want to leave her husband and disappear into the mystery of blues. Born in Mobile, Alabama of a musical family, he first gained national Attention as a front man of the 70's rock band WET WILLIE-- One of Phil Walden’s Capricorn Supernovas. An eye candy bad boy wired for sound and speed. Hall Quickly made a name for himself, holding his own, to this day, with the greatest amen, revival soul shouters of our time.
During the 70's, WET WILLIE cranked out the radio hits one after the other,, playing the biggest venues with the biggest names in Rock and Blues. Hall kept the rock funcked up and hot, dazzling people with his harp and saxophone skills in addition to his caramel and honey soaked vocals.
Rather than to fall prey to the excessive of a drug infested rock scene, hall chose the southern family tradition to raise his three sons and family, rather than traveling the perilous road to super-stardom. after leaving WET WILLIE in 1980, Hall Continued his musical dreams and in-demand session singer and player.
In 1995 Capricorn Records released "Rendezvous with the Blues" a critical hit that planted the seed of returning the a regular performing life. Serving as a band leader for Hank Williams Jr. and working with Brit rocker Jeff beck further fueled the desire.
Jimmy also sang with Jeff Beck, helping him win a Grammy for "FLASH"
Jimmy Hall, former lead vocalist and harmonica player for Wet Willie, has a long and varied background as a performer, working with Capricorn Records from its early days in the 1970s. Born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, Hall cofounded Wet Willie in 1970; over the next ten years, Hall and the group toured with Aerosmith, the Allman Brothers Band, Grand Funk Railroad and the Grateful Dead. Hall was later nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocalist for Jeff Beck's 1985 Flash album. After Wet Willie's breakup, Hall moved to Nashville to work on a solo project for Epic Records, and he's been based there ever since, finding a healthy blues scene in a city known for country music. On his 1996 effort Rendezvous With The Blues, Hall is backed by people like Clayton Ivey on piano, former Capricorn session drummer Bill Stewart, and Dr. Dan Matrazzo on Hammond B-3 organ; the record also features Johnny Sandlin, the same producer who sat behind the console on Wet Willie's 1973 live album Drippin' Wet. In recent years, Hall joined Hank Williams Jr's touring band playing sax and harmonica.
