We were formed out of the ashes of a band named after a Red Hot Chili Peppers line, but despite that, we're quite good, really! We had all played together in bands and jams before, and when Zak, the resident jazzpunk(sober as a judge) and Phil, screwball Lester Bangs wannabe, went on their own, nobody knew it would become the juggernaut musical empire it is today. They had been working on some low-key thump and holler dance tracks, and they decided they wanted to take the thing national, so they would certainly need a live band. Taylor was the local rock community's journeyman cynic prince, and he gladly joined up, although by complete circumstance(the original guitarist was too busy making interpol bumper stickers). Brandon's house had been a hotbed for musical activity for years, with fine acoustics and too much food for him to keep his sights on(we are starving musicians, after all) so when he got involved, we all figured, hey free food! But his beats actually turned out to be the pulse of the beast, and Tom simply has more soul then any white man we've ever known. When he blows his mighty horn, the heavens erupt in applause and juiceboxes drink themselves.

Seasons change, however, and so did we. Thusly, at the start of the new year we found ourselves with a new jamspace down in the darkness of Taunton at Bandstand Live and with a new drummer, Taylor's old audiophile buddy, Matt Messer. The sound may have slightly changed, but the feeling and the message of the music is the same: we hate bands with names featuring Wolves or Horses(save for Crazy Horse) and we are here to destroy them.

More recently, our prodigal son has returned! Brandon Veracka, the original Doctor and so called beat box at the heart of the Near Escape, has come home to roost. (But could he be a trojan horse?) No! He is indeed the Lord, King Brandon!

Together, we have been rocking every dive and state fair in the Bay State as best we can for nearly a year now. We try to always bring the noise, kick out the jams, and we very rarely leave a mess, save for some cookie crumbs.

We are the Near Escape, and for better or worse, this is our page.

The Near Escape-like a paddle slap to the rear.

Feel free to promote!

"When I listen to The Near Escape, I feel as though the lovechild of all great musicians has beaten me with a broken guitar, and the only cure is more Near Escape!" - Xandersingh

"Lock up your daughters, wives, and 1 in 10 sons, the Near Escape is coming to town and won't leave until everything and everyone is thoroughly rocked. Don't you ever stop, long enough to start, get that car outta that gear." - Steve Bailey, The Reaganauts

"A great change from the average scene band. At first they are seemingly out of place but they usually have everyone dancing within a few minutes. And what a charismatic lead singer." - Monica Whalen, Extraordinaire

"From the highschool fall to venue halls, these guys have been alongside the front lines of fighting and fucking up the scene." - Jyashi

"Tom is actually a really good lookin' guy" Danielle Pino, art major

"The Near Escape evoke the barren guitar sensibilities of Gang of Four while maintaining a foundation rooted in Neil Young/the Band style songwriting. The sax climax at the end of 'Big Thinking' conjures up memories of the days when Rock songs exploded into an atmosphere of togetherness.

When I listen to the Near Escape I feel as though they've let me in to one of their practices. There is an honest intimacy about their songs that is as refreshing as it is endearing." Ryan Engley, Valhalla, The Ticket That Exploded

"Your live version of Brand New Cadillac is legendary. It actually made me enjoy my least favorite Clash song." Kevin, Elvis Costello fanatic, Las Vegas, Nevada
