Somewhere in the wasteland of Rosemead, Jim, Rob, & Choncey decided that they should continue. Cross-eyed Mary had just died due to Kasey El Norte's choice to drop out and pursue prospecting in the hills of Duarte. Choncey had the dream/idea of a drummer who could play any beat with any limb at any time.and behold The Martinez joined. A congress convened for band direction and beer selection. Anticipation electrified the air and Jim's Traynor Bassmaster electrified his face everytime he tried to sing; a few jams later and The Most Powerful Hand was formed, stolen from a prayer votive.
A secret San Diego gig filled with salt air and sand-launched Mexican made mortars inaugurated the band. They were off and soon after hearing the power that was The Hand, Kasey returned from a strike and joined up as the fifth finger. Countless gigs followed and much in the way of fun & property destruction.
Again feeling the need for extra-band activities, Kasey left the hand and Mr. Rob took over full time on the mic and lyrical expression. Many gigs did follow and the Hand made numerous friends in the abyss that is the L.A. underground scene.
A sad day befell the Hand when John Howard decided to leave his watch as thunder broom captain for the darkness and speed that is metal. Without a bass player, the Hand soldiered on and many new songs and ideas were born from this tumult and the core of the Hand grew strong and fantastic with evermore psychic-musical-telepathy and jam power.
Enter Dylan Farr, a quiet, mild-mannered superstar from Pasadena. Dylan brought the band back from the isolation of a three piece in a covert location to the stages of L.A. once again. Beer and Gigs. and Friends old and new.
Sensing a new direction and his end with the Hand, Mr. Rob flew north for the summer to Portland, land of neo-hippy-p.c.-treehuggers, to clean up in the endless rain that is the Pacific Northwest. A new chapter was born. James Ryan a.k.a. Hussellberry took over songwriting, singing and lyrical duties. And the Hand continued. A few shows under belt and a whole new set of music the Hand had survived yet another personnel change.
During the summer of 2010 The Most Powerful Hand disbanded. All members off to pursue ideas, dreams and fortunes unnamed.
