A band leader who plays bass, keys, and guitar, a locally reknown singer/percussionist, a guitar player who also plays harmonica, melodica, and accordian, an electric banjo player with feel, a sax player with funk, and a drummer with deep pockets comprise a band with chops, diversity, groove, and a commitment to the song.



The Matt Koon Foundation is a band commited to using all the tools it has to tell their story and connecting to their audience with good songs. The style can best be described as jazzy, soulful Rock that is funky, and makes you want to whistle it later.



"This is the brand new Foundation The first version (called the matt Koon Foundation) was succesfull as an instrumental guitar rock band on the local level. This new band was born after a musical walkabout I went on this past year, studying with primarily with Victor Wooten and Anthony Wellington (ongoing) as well as Steve Bailey, Chuck Rainey, attending classes and taking lessons with Adam Nitti, Regie Wooten, Joseph Wooten, Roy "FutureMan" Wooten, Eric Struthers, Jeff Coffin, Bob Franceschinni, Bob Hemenger, Dave Welsch, Gerald Veasley, JD Blair, Joe Craven, as well meeting and meeting and interacting this year with Jason Mraz, Marcus Miller, Stanley Clark, Willie Adler, Mike Stern, Dave Weckl, Dennis Chambers, Bela Fleck, Howard Levy, Ryan Cavenaugh, Casey Driessen.>WHEW!!!! It was quite a year 2009.



I believe that I was put on a path to have so many elite musicians enter my life in a one year period for a reason. To make music again, original music, with great people. The people in the band were put in my path to make music with, some I have known forever, some I met recently, they are all dedicated musicians, who want to make great music, and put the music first.
