Mark Slaughter is best known as the energetic frontman with the glass shattering vocals for the hard rock group "Slaughter". Mark picked up his first guitar at age 11 and never looked back. In 1986, Mark auditioned to sing for the Vinnie Vincent Invasion and joined the band as lead singer later that year. VVI's number one hit "Love Kills" appeared on the "Nightmare on Elm Street 4" movie soundtrack in 1988.
In 1989, Mark and former Vinnie Vincent Invasion producer/ bass player Dana Strum formed the band "Slaughter". Slaughter was a pioneer band of its time, writing, producing and performing their own music, maintaining control of all aspects of their compositions and insuring quality presentation and integrity of their songs. Slaughter soared to the top, touring the globe with bands they grew up with, such as Alice Cooper, Kiss and Ozzy Osbourne. Slaughter's first two albums went platinum, selling in excess of five million records in the 1990s and toured worldwide to sold-out arenas. Slaughter influenced a generation of rock music fans with hits on the Billboard charts, including "Up All Night", "Fly to the Angels", "Wild Life", "Real Love", "Spend My Life", "Mad About You" and "Days Gone By". Slaughter hits collectively spent over a year in number one video slot on MTV. In 1991 won the American Music Award (AMA) for the Best New Heavy Metal Band. Slaughter continues to tour to appreciative fans worldwide.
Mark is also a part of the lineup of a newer band "Scrap Metal", a band made up of rock frontmen, including lead singers Gunnar and Matthew Nelson (Nelson), Kelly Keagy (Night Ranger) and Eric Martin (Mr. Big). Scrap Metal was signed by the renowned William Morris Agency. Scrap Metal was born when Gunnar, Mark and Kelly were asked to participate in "Tin Pan South", an annual songwriter's festival produced by the Nashville Songwriter's Association International (NSAI).
In addition to raising his two sons near Nashville Tennessee and touring with Slaughter and Scrap Metal, Mark has successfully branched out in voice over work and the composition of music for major television, movies and sports outlets. Mark’s vocal diversity is highlighted with credits that include voice over ventures in major productions like “Batman Beyond,” “Bloodsport,” Freakazoid!” and “Animaniacs.”
Mark is very active in charitable causes, such as his participation with St. Jude’s Children's Hospital, MusiCares, One Less Tear and True Jams Charity, generously giving his time and effort in numerous benefit concerts and fundraising events.
