The Low Countries are an indie-folk duo signed to cult indie label Nub Country Records and Van Steene Music Publishing. They write and perform songs that are really rather good - from melancholy Americana to quirky indie-pop: 'harmonious, melancholic, and often uplifting songs in a folk-pop hat'
Nigel's songs have been played on BBC Radio 6, BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio Lancashire, Unpeeled.net, Folk Radio UK, Dandelion Radio, Studio Brussels, Radio Centraal and many others.

Their fourth album for Nub Country records, 'summer's last hurrah', was released on the 30th of October 2011 - the last day of BST. It contains 14 eclectic indie-folk-pop songs regarding the weather; Brian Cox's Locks; hopes of Spring and suicidal dreams.

In 2008, inspired by a love of The Wicker Man, Nigel wrote a concept album. This was to be a soundtrack to an imaginary prequel to The Wicker Man. 'the failing of the strains' garnered excellent reviews and is already a cult classic.
The Low Countries signed to Nub Country Records in 2007 and released their debut album 'hypericum perforatum, in the same year, to critical yesness. 'Indie folk at its best' to quote but one review (Folk Radio UK).
