Emerging in 2006 as Birmingham's most recent serving of
home grown talent; The Love Child Electric are driven by an
eclectic spectrum of musical passions and a diverse mix of influences creating a
sound layered with searing melodies, impassioned harmonies, and a smattering of
good old fashioned indie-rock. The band's use of classical chord progressions juxtaposed
against a sardonic critique of a life full of contradictions leads to an
addictive sound that remains unpretentious.

The Love Child Electric spin a multitude of tales through
the contrasting, tender, yet impact driven nature of their music. Images of the
Stone Casanova, Montego Bay Rebel and weary every day angels are
too tantalising to resist and have propelled the band to must-see status on
Birmingham’s music scene.
Lead singer and songwriter Paul Griffin started writing and composing at an early age, his first musical recordings at just 11 years. Currently studying classical piano, Paul leans towards the guitar to perform and provides a distinctive and sincere voice for the band's material. Believing that music should heal, enlighten and excite; Paul’s songs are about everything inspiring and passionate in life. Most recently Paul was one of 60 finalists short listed from 3000 entrants to attend BBC New Talent’s Songwriting Master Class. His song “Find Me, Keep Me” secureing his place.

The rhythm for The LCE is found in the form of Adam Roberts, who first picked up his sticks 7 years ago, taking lessons from Kenny Clare Award Winner, Carl Hemmingsley. Drumming has greatly influenced his life and the music he listens to. Able to express versatility in drumming dexterously and sympathetically, he enjoys the company of like-minded musicians who care about the music as well as each other.
Reed. A charismatic, eclectic and experienced musician. After graduating from the prestigious Birmingham Conservatoire with first-class Bachelors degree in music he embarked upon a career as a session musician touring with Virgin Records’ favourites band, Day- One and later recording with Lighthouse Family, Mis-Teeq and teenage phenomena Busted. An artist in his own right collaborating with the likes of Soweto Kinch and Jazz fusion supremo Konig.
Bringing texture, sentiment and spirit, the violin of Taiwanese born Kiki Chen helps to define The Love Child Electric’s unique sound. Learning Piano and Violin from the age of 8 Kiki completed her Masters degree in 2008 at the Birmingham Conservatoire and received the 2006 Herbert Lumby Prize for violinists. This year, she has been accepted onto the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra training scheme as a first violinist. She likes all kinds of music and enjoys the different challenges playing in The Love Child Electric brings.
Playing the piano as early as 4, Simon Davies pursued his passion training classically through his formative years and currently broadening his musical scope with Jazz and Latin styles. Greatly influenced by Jeff Buckley and The Beatles, Simon has been writing songs for most of his life and strives to better himself technically as well as musically. Also a guitarist and vocalist Simon performs with other musicians namely LP45 and occasional solo performances.

“Paul, Adam, Reed, Kiki and Simon, The Love Child Electric offer a fresh and distinctive sound in the often monotonous world of guitar based music.”
Birmingham University Student Paper - music critic.
