Biography 2011
The band was founded back in 2002 by the Loera brothers Rick & Jesus at the age of 14 and 18 respectively, both brothers had already several years of music education, wanted to start a music career and had one thing in common: The taste for rough and classical music, so the path was chosen and The Legion of Hetheria was born.
HETERÍA - Ancient civilian Greek group/army and authority: hetería decides the election; hetería orders the accusation; hetería leads the defense; it gains the reputation lawyer, concludes an agreement in case of necessity with the industralist of the acquittals, who makes commerce with the votes of the judges (. The name was chosen as the idea was to combine as many elements as musically possible, turning out with softness meeting agression, ballads and blasting all in one concept and the Greek history behind Hetería was a perfect match to this, as we all know ancient greek culture was filled with myth, arts & beauty but also with chaos & war.
In 2003 the band's first full length album "THE GATE" was released, having great acceptance with the audience and the band started touring around Mexico in small and medium-sized venues and some open air festivals, by the end of 2004 the band did a mini tour alongside Dutch metal band "EPICA" with whom they developed great friendship.
In 2005 the band released their second album "CHOICES.", the album was succesful and a tour in Europe was booked for the band, playing Metal Female Voices Fest 3 in Belgium, visiting The Hague, Tilburg, Groningen in The Netherlands to mention some cities, this great wave of touring kept on going in Mexico for a whole year and then again in 2006 the band returned to Europe for a second part of the tour they started a year earlier, again played Metal Female Voices Fest 4 and now visited more countries than in the previous tour, then came back to Mexico to do a co-headlining tour with Norwegian band Trail of Tears.
Through 2007 until 2009 the band continued touring but sadly the music scene in Mexico was going through a tough time, so it was impossible for them to release their new album which was already recorded.
In 2010 the band was finnally able to release their third album "NEUTRA", which for the first time included tracks sung entirely in Spanish, English and also mixed language songs, this record shows big differences from their previous releases, as maturity both in music and lyrics was noticeable right away, the reviews for this album worldwide were really good and the shows and tourdates kept on coming.
Is is now 2011 and the band is close to celebrating their 10-Year anniversary, with plans to release another album soon as well as touring through Mexico and Europe again.
The band has shared the stage in more than one ocassion with bands such as Lacuna Coil, Epica, After Forever, Tristania, Sirenia, Trail of Tears, Nuclear Assault, Opeth, Delain, Autumn, Macbeth, Leaves' Eyes, Zoe, Rata Blanca, and many, many others not only Metal bands but also Pop, Rock and Classical artists.
