The Learys

We are a five piece band living in a little Industrial town called Widnes in the North West of England. Just outside Liverpool.



We are like brothers; we have known and knocked about with each other for years.



The band was formed in October 05, when Jon, Kenneth and Jack started playing and writing music together in a friend’s warehouse during our spare time.



After a while we started to expand on what we were doing, we managed to get a few songs together, and although they were quite rough to begin with, we knew we had something we could work on.



In January 07 we decided we needed another guitarist for the set up. We all knew Bev from watching and playing with different bands over the years, and also he had recently left a band he was drumming for.



We decided after a good couple of good arguments that Bev would join ThE LeaRYs.



Not too long after we enlisted Dave to come and join the band as our second guitarist, and we’ve never looked back since…. And so The Learys was born.

Everyone has forgotten Rock N Roll its nearly extinct!!!

Everyone is too wrapped up in all they're pretty love songs and they're cheap imitation "Rock Stars" that cry for rehab every two seconds because they've been out drinking for two nights on the fucking run



FUCK OFF! Who you trying to kid?



We know we're being cheated and we're not happy about it at all.



We play angry music because we're angry lads trying to stand up and be heard



We fight for the underdogs, for every social outcast, for everyone that’s never been considered to be “Cool”…. We’re an alternative band for alternative people and we won’t be stopped until our voice has been heard!



We are living in a time where we can look back at bands that have come before us and left there mark on history at just a click of a button.

Apart from actually witnessing the Bands Live that through the course of time have become Legends in their own right, being a Music fan in this day and age couldn’t be better.

So why are we so pissed off? Well we are actually living in a time where everybody gets told what music to like, what’s cool and what’s not where the music scene is more interested in fashion than real music.

In a time full of rip offs, Tedious soppy Acoustic shite and people who are in bands because it’s ‘’cool’’. We feel cheated and saddened that our Generation has hardly anything to offer us, let alone future music fans.

We are The Learys we are from Widnes in the North West of England and we are here to fuck things up a bit. We don’t give a shit about fame, fortune or any of that superficial shite we are here and we bring our Raw in your face Rock n Roll that this Planet and the real people in it have been crying out for for years.

The Learys hail from Widnes – a place that’s maybe a little too close to Liverpool (?), but have no fear as this is a band who foresake the Beatles and are content with the blues plus some accompanying swaggering rock and roll moments of literally rifftastic glory. It’s a bit of a low budget demo and half the time it sounds like a soundtrack for the stoned, but when it is good, you find a band on the first track who enjoy experimenting on old Dr Feelgood records. There’s an injection of modern rock but it’s the vocals that keep this slightly wild bluesman style burning. With some deft guitar playing, hemmed with atmospheric effects, the only really burning question is are they all really brothers ?
