Well, well, well, three holes in the ground. What has become of five blokes that love a good time, find the rigours of work unbearable, and the lure of rock and roll irresistible? They have formed a band that's a little bit lady, and a little bit boy. Enter 'The Ladyboys'. It's been a while since a band like The Ladyboys have fronted up in your local pub, but with the relaxation of dress codes you will run into them sooner or later. Rock is what you would call it, mildly retarded is what you would call them. Don't let the name fool you, they aren't what it portrays them to be - they take their pants off at night just like any other red-blooded, slightly effeminate, heterosexual man. A killer combination of a pounding back beat, electric guitars that make your girlfriend think twice, and vocals from the gods of thunder via the mighty You Yangs make The Ladyboys worth the price of admission. Living in Oslo, Norway in late 2005 when he received a platonic late night call from Paul (lead guitar), Ladyboys lead singer Stephen "ET/DC Roycie" Royce (ex 'Hoe Down 5') has never looked back, nor waxed his back. As the conversation moved from girls to women, puppies to dogs, modems to broadband, the old faithful reared its ugly head: rock and roll was on the cards and they certainly weren't Hallmark. The boys made a pact that upon Roycie's return they would move right into writing songs for a yet unnamed, unmanned and untanned band. Upon Roycie's return and after co-writing their first song, the connection that was hinted at during that (allegedly platonic) phone call was now shared in the room where they sat. Jamming fiercely (but still 'just friends') in a coastal hideaway from early to mid 2006, the two worked on writing and riffing, and the two main R's of R'n'R. Soon after, the songs grabbed the attention of local lady killer Matt (bass) and ex 'Hoe Down 5' drummer Spoon. Ladies and gentlemen, The Ladyboys were born. The four full figured fellas set about jamming a set list over the coming months and lined up some shows for late 2006. Warrnambool, Geelong & Melbourne all went off and the reaction was that of dropped jaws and wild applause. After the shows, the front rows resembled a burns ward from Paulie's face melting riffs, while the back rows were left blinded by Roycie's white shoes and Jagger-esque dance moves. 2007 is the year of the Rooster and cocks everywhere are craving a piece of the Ladyboys. Adding a rhythm guitarist went no further than Paul's brother and ex 'Hoe Down 5' guitarist, Jeremy 'The Lerminator' Clifford. The stage is now set for the full Ladyboy experience. An EP has been recorded with a bunch of songs to be released as splits and 7 inches. The foulest stench is in the air, the Ladyboys have risen from the funk of 40,000 beers. The Ladyboys are the mixed grill of rock - hot, greasy and manly. Regardless of your genitalia, the Ladyboys are good for you.
