BIOGRAPHY

"Their willingness to explore an ever-widening spectrum of sounds and genres is unparalleled."

-- Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Since convening in late 2005, the Heavyheads quickly became one of Milwaukee's hardest-working bands, headlining shows at dozens of bars, clubs, and festivals in Milwaukee, Chicago, and Madison, consistently drawing loyal fans and curious newcomers alike.

In 2006, the band released their self-titled debut LP, graced the airwaves of Milwaukee with a live performance on FM 91.7 WMSE in December, and received critical acclaim for both their eclectic live shows and debut album. In late 2007, The Heavyheads were given the opportunity to include a track from the WMSE live session for the station's latest compilation album "Live at WMSE volume 9."

The Heavyheads have continued to build on their early successes with an expanding schedule of shows, a brand new member in drummer Tim Schulz of local band 'Southbound,' and a highly anticipated sophomore effort released on July 26, 2008.

The new album titled 'Down At The Heels' was recorded in Chicago, IL at Engine Studios with engineer Neil Strauch whose credits include 'Iron and Wine,' 'Margot and the Nuclear So and So's' and 'Gomez.'

While The Heavyheads' first album released in 2006 was more of a glorified demo, 'Down At The Heels' shows the band's effort to explore new sounds, instruments and musicians, bringing on female vocalist Keshena Armon and WAMI award-winning keyboardist Joe Hite to provide depth to The Heavyheads' evolving sound.

The music was written over the past two years and proves to be the band’s best display of songwriting yet, combining well articulated prose with beautiful sonic imagery. In fact, the lyrics alone stand as a major testament to the band’s compositional skill.

A range of styles can be heard throughout the album from alt. country, blues, psychedelic folk, swaggering guitar rock, and acoustic balladry. 'Down At The Heels' is the band's most prolific and diverse effort to date.
