The Hazey Janes

"The Hazey Janes follow a route of skewed indie rock and pair dazzlingly effective vocal harmonies with expertly balanced songwriting. With every passing song there is a new 'leap out' moment, such as brilliant upside-down keyboard riffs, intertwining guitar lines and the odd genius drum fill. And the band are more than capable of drawing out a moody atmosphere at a couple of points in the set, lowering the tempo and letting the music breathe around the venue.
However, the Hazey Janes are also capable of being pretty darn heavy when they want to be, so the evening's performance is nothing if not eclectic. The main musical base is uptempo indie rock, with 'Dirty'-era Sonic Youth melodic sensibilities (at once pretty, yet vaguely sinister), which is added to or subtracted from when the song requires it. There are a couple of almost minimalist country-tinged interludes and a certain folksy element, which tends to charge headlong into the next song. Indeed, a collected and multi-talented bunch!"

The Hazey Janes and Friends at Dundee Rep
The Hazey Janes invite some of their favourite East Coast acts to Dundee Rep Theatre's auditorium for an eclectic evening of acoustic music. Performances will include a rare solo appearance from Riley Briggs - the singer-songwriter behind acclaimed Indie-pop outfit Aberfeldy, Folk and Jazz-flavoured skills from the Iain Macaulay Trio, and the close-harmony Country-pop of Dropkick.
Closing the evening will be The Hazey Janes themselves, with a special expanded line-up featuring the Sellars Brothers on trumpet, flugal horn, saxophone and clarinet, Christopher Marra on pedal steel guitar, and Jenny Sutherland on violin and viola. A one night only show, not to be missed!
