The Greasy Beats have forged a rough and raw approach to the FUNK that is reminiscent of The JB's, Dyke & The Blazers, The Meters and the Godfather of Soul himself, James Brown. The GB's have firmly established their reputation as THE hardest working funk band in SoCal with extended residences at both the world famous Roxy Theatre in Hollywood and the Temple Bar in Santa Monica. "They got the name of the group right on this one -- because the music here is greasy and gritty -- partly deep funk, and partly older soul-styled grooves! The group are a largeish combo with vamping guitar, burning organ, snapping drums, and a nice brace of horns on the top -- and they're joined here by Mixmaster Wolf of Breakestra -- who sings lead vocals on 3 of the EP's 5 tracks! The overall groove is rich and full -- almost with Memphis soul touches at times, but cut down with the leanness of the modern deep funk generation."

- Dusty Groove
