Os TheGodiva formaram-se em Setembro de 1999. Desde o início que TheGodiva procurou ser uma banda notada pela sua sonoridade característica que, por um lado, permitisse a distingui-la das restantes bandas e, por outro, criar uma identidade própria.
O primeiro registo dos TheGodiva, em formato promo-CD, data de 2000 e intitula-se "Tales to Be Untold". Simbolizou os primeiros passos de uma banda com vontade de ferro e ambição para ir mais além.
O ano de 2002 coincidiu com o lançamento do segundo registo dos TheGodiva e o primeiro com produção profissional a cargo de Rui Danim e Luis Barros nos estúdios Rec n' Roll. Este registo, intitulado "Traces of Irony", foi um importante marco na afirmação dos TheGodiva, enquanto banda a ter em conta pela crítica em geral.
Após cinco anos sem um novo registo, devido a mudanças sucessivas na sua formação, os TheGodiva conseguiram reunir um conjunto de elementos coeso e com influências musicais variadas, o que contribuiu para um leque de temas que permitiu um escolha sensata para um novo trabalho. Este recebeu o nome de "Spiral" e foi lançado sob o formato de EP em 2007, gravado e produzido nos Ultrasound Studios por Daniel Cardoso. "Spiral", à semelhança de "Traces of Irony" na sua altura, foi um marco na carreira dos TheGodiva, tendo recebido óptimas críticas e aceitação no panorama nacional e internacional.
Actualmente a banda encontra-se a preparar um novo registo, enquanto procura uma editora que possa ajudar a banda na edição e promoção deste novo trabalho e outros que se lhe possam seguir.
TheGodiva gathered in September of 1999. Since the beginning, TheGodiva tried to become a band noticed by it's characteristic sonority that allowed the band to be distinguished from all the others and create it's own identity.
The first recording of TheGodiva, in a promo-CD shape, is from 2000, called "Tales to Be Untold". This record simbolized the first steps of a band with an iron will and enough ambition to go further.
The year of 2002 was the year of our second release and the first with professional production, being responsible for this Rui Danim and Luis Barros at Rec n' Roll studios. "Traces of Irony" was the name of it and it was an important mark in the band's afirmation, as a band to pay atention by the critics in general.
After five years without a new recording, due to sucessive changes in the band's formation, the remaing members of TheGodiva managed to gather an even stronger set of musicians. That allowed the band to write some new great musics and to record a new work.
And so "Spiral" was born. Released as an EP in 2007, this work was recorded and produced in Ultrasound Situdios by Daniel Cardoso. "Spiral", just like "Traces of Irony" in 2002, became a mark in the band's carreer, with great critics, nationally and internacionally.
At present time, TheGodiva is working in a new record, while searches for a label that can support and help the band in the recording and promotion of this new work and others who will, for sure, follow.
