In the fall of 2004, Abigail Henderson's near legendary KC cowpunk band Trouble Junction imploded. Guitarist Chris Meck was becoming dissatisfied with the direction of Pendergast, which he had founded with ex-Sandoval ex-Rex Hobart and the Misery Boys member Tony Ladesich. Already a couple, Henderson and Meck wrote some songs, picked up a drummer and the first of 9 bass players and took off in a cloud of dust.

2005 brought the release of the first Gaslights album," Midwest Hotel". It brought some critical acclaim both in the U.S. and abroad, spurring the first of 3 tours in Europe.

Somewhere around bass player number 4 (or was it 5) the band released a second album, 2006's Lines and Wires. There were tours. Hurricanes (and an aborted relocation as a result). There was imitation bologna in Mississippi. There was a record snowstorm in New York City. The Gaslights hit a moose outside of St. Regis, Montana and totalled their van. Henderson and Meck got married in a bar there with a talking parrot for a witness after many, many whiskeys. There were band defections and additions. An album cut and scrapped after more defections.

A third album, 2007's "16 Addresses" was released, and there was another euro-tour. The Gaslights broke up after the tour due to personal differences. A few months later, Henderson and Meck reformed with a new rhythm section and E9 (also known as Erik Voeks) joined the band on bass and harmony vocals. After a couple of missteps with drummers, Mike Meyers (who had previously drummed alongside Meck with Kristie Stremel and Pendergast) settled in and the new lineup was complete.

In the summer of 2008 Henderson was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer. Touring was put on hold. Work on a new record reflecting the sound of the new lineup is moving ever so slowly towards completion. After a long year of treament, Abigail's health is much improved. The band hopes to complete the album by years' end and hit the road some this spring.
