The Finest Hour are a 4 piece band based in the Cleethorpes/Grimsby area of Lincolnshire, England. Drawing influence from Indie, Punk, Ska and Folk music, the band have toured extensively throughout the UK, covering The North and Midlands, London and Scotland taking in famous venues such as The Cavern Club in Liverpool, Half Moon in Putney, The Adelphi in Hull, Dry Bar in Manchester, Birmingham Barfly and Ginglik in Shepherds Bush to name but a few.
Notable support slots include Neville Staple, Chris Helme & The Yards, Mystery Jets, Orphan Boy, Brightlights, Harijan, The Lights and Zane Lowe. Some less glamourous, but equally enjoyable gigs involved playing in a halls of residence kitchen in Salford, on an ice cream parlour rooftop in Cleethorpes and a Kings Cross Travelodge at 4am (which did not go down well with the staff!).
The Finest Hour have released five singles to date since forming in 2007, the early 'Don't Look Down/You Know It's Me' before several line up changes lead to the settled quartet of Paul Kavanagh, Rob Bywater, Luke Whotton and Craig Cox in 2009. Gigging solidly throughout 2010 and releasing two singles 'Battle Scars' and 'Move On' which were recorded at Africa Studios, Hull, they recieved extensive radio play from online stations in the UK, France, USA and Austrailia as well as being playing by BBC Introducing and being invited to record a live session by Alan Raw.
2011 saw the lads begin work on their debut album while still taking in a bucket load of gigs and releasing 'Keep Your Chin Up Kid' in August, which was again warmly recieved by online radio stations and BBC Introducing, who played the track at Leeds Festival. Their latest single 'Janey', was released in March 2012 and the album will follow later this year, with a September release date pencilled in, watch this space for some exciting TFH news to come in the next few weeks.
