"'We have been a band for two years this month," says French Kiss Coma's Ian McDonald, speaking from Chicago. The Charleston-based indie-rock group--McDonald, Nevin Lyle, Bandi Tomaschek, Andrew Ochsner-- recently recorded in the Windy City at Taxi Recordings. 'We moved to Charleston in June 2006,' says McDonald. 'Since we moved here, we've recorded five albums--mostly self-recorded--and toured the Northeast twice this year and the Southeast once. We have another Southeast tour in the works for February and March.' Members of French Kiss Coma are also members of the E6-like alliance of like-minded, underground pop-rock bands called Rainy Day Collective based in Chicago. French Kiss Coma will be coming to Chicago to record their next record with me in my studio. Tracking will begin on or near the 29th of Dec and wrap up on or before the 6th January. We're also doing a show with them on Jan 4th if you're in town.
They do some cool stuff. They've got the energy of the Velvets and the je ne givashit of Pavement. I'm really excited to be working with these guys!

There's a bright future for local upstarts French Kiss Coma.
The quartet of 20-somethings are a beautifully chaotic meltdown of Radiohead, Pavement and Fugazi, with a penchant for spontaneity and passion-felt stage antics.
Coma's wild performances and well-thought-out, patiently written tunes make the group a refreshing memory of grunge-bands past.
Coma will perform Tuesday at Cumberland's with the popular experimental rock act Mike Got Spiked, Winter Ferris and Pregnant Preachers.
