charly thorn ("the diggerman") was born in 1974 in the village of neulussheim, near the german hockenheim-ring in the area of heidelberg - mannheim.



influenced by british bbc-dj bobby crysall he starts dj-ing at the age of 12. after smaller gigs that got bigger and bigger, he gets his first residence at the age of 18 in a night-club-bar at mannheim. beeing into all kind of music the young guy soon turns into a magnet and fills biggest halls.



in 1997 he joins the team of the newly set up radio station "sunshine live". from the beginning on he makes his way to be the most wanted talent and host at this station ever. the "walking library in musics" does a lot of music-based shows and very soon welcomes guests like talla 2 xlc, taucher, paul van dyk, woody van eyden, phatts & small, westbam, adeeva, dune, dj sammy, even faithless, american diva gloria gaynor and depeche mode are heading to meet him.



in 2000 he breakes with all rules of doing radio by a live dj-mix on the morning show; for ending up that risky action in a media-sensation he is honoured "best host" by a jury and enters the hall of fame.



since 2001 he does "djs after work" - the daily show presents a wide variety of trance und electronic music and reachs more than 1.000.000 listeners per week. the number of listeners explodes vastly as charly decides in 2002 to stop playing any kind of "over commercialed" domestic productions and does a good job in picking his tracks by dutch and british stores. after he manages to implant a lot of that new stuff very successfull to the german trance-community even labels from out of germany give him big support and call him a "hell of a weapon". allthough most of the german clubs go other ways his position is highly honoured by artists, friends, djs and listeners that call him a "living institution".



within his nearly 20 years of touring the globe as a dj he appears at all kinds of events, such as "streetparade", "technoclub" & "nature one" and many many more.



wherever the man mostly clad in black rubber and latex appears the party gets off the hook. "i am not a magican, i´m just working with some records and trying to implant them under the skin of the listeners. to know the first and the last record of the set is important; anything between is set up by the crowd. that´s what dj-ing is most about ".
