.The Compromise combines four extraordinary talents; Brandon Bell (vocals/guitar) provides distinct and emotional melodies, J.D. Short (guitar) adds a cunning ability to create catchy hooks, Adam Inman (bass) puts together solid low end with an energetic stage presence, and Matthew Stark (drums) delivers a strong rhythmic bed for the pop-rock outfit.
The release of their latest EP, Between Love & Hate, marks the second album in their growing discography. Produced by Anthony Falcone and the band, BL&H was the first true step The Compromise took down their present path. Beginning with "Have Mercy", the powerful guitar-heavy refrain and searing pop synthesizer introduce the record in an explosive way. The second track, titled "Thou Shalt Not Worship False Billy Idols", is a synth-laced dance rock anthem comparable to The Killers or Anberlin, the lyrics of which tell stories of betrayal, lust, and redemption. "Just Don't Take This Too Seriously" is a tongue-in-cheek social commentary originally from their first full-length album Teen Movie Soundtrack. The third track provides a nice transition into the crowd favorite, "Girl On The Moon". Possibly the EP's magnum opus, the track calls up memories of Journey, Phil Collins, and Peter Gabriel, using emotional lyrics, beautiful piano melodies, and soaring vocal lines to round out its waltz. The record is completed by two tracks, "('Til Then.) Patience", a song about the most grating of virtues, and "Heels Over Head", a sizzling tale of all-consuming love.
The Compromise is currently finishing production on their third record, entitled Revive The High Five, and is currently playing local and regional dates in the Southeast.
