Rising from the ashes of past musical endeavors, The City Skyscape is the Indie Pop project of Christopher Mongillo, a passionate 24 year old multi-instrumentalist based in Boston, Massachusetts who's had his hand in quite a number of projects over the last several years.

The City Skyscape's self-titled debut was released on March 17, 2009, and boasts wonderfully infectious, soaring melodies, fluent and solid songwriting structures, and expressive musicianship throughout. From concept to mastering, Christopher crafts and finely tunes each one of his songs in his modest home studio. Plans for a new album due out sometime this winter are in the works, and until then you can also check out his other project, Roman Traffic, for some harder-hitting tunes.

"With The Postal Service on an apparent indefinite hiatus, someone's got to fill Ben Gibbard's sweet little shoes. They're big shoes to fill, and Christopher Mongillo does a pretty fair job of it on The City Skyscape's first eponymous album. His lyrics are snappy and poignant, and the music is at times experimentally refreshing. 3.5 out of 5 stars."

-Abbey K. Davis, Chicago Sun-Times/MuzikReviews

"I've fallen in love with the trip back into late 80's Euro-pop with the debut, self-titled release from The City Skyscape. A throwback for sure, vocal dynamics and versatile lyrics prove to be quite infectious and easy to get into. The entire project is full of diverse tracks ranging from a Death Cab For Cutie feel to earlier incarnations of Depeche Mode. It's certainly great fun and refreshing in terms of new releases and new projects. I sincerely hope to hear what the 23 year old has in store for the future"

-Elysabeth Williams, Hybrid Magazine

"Fans of euro-techno bands like Depeche Mode will find much to love about Christopher Mongillo's homemade recording project, The City Skyscape. The debut album is shimmering with analog synth melodies and soaring vocals; and it's the vocals that really nail this as the real deal. When Mongillo runs out a falsetto arpeggio in the break on the first track, "The Notorious Kelly Monroe," you know you're in for something special. And the rest of the album does not disappoint. You'll be hearing much more from this project. Highly recommended. -Bryan Baker, GAJOOB/homemademusic.com

"The City Skyscape sounds like Mongillo listened to a lot of the Europop bands of the 1980's, from The Cure and The Smiths to bands like Information Society and New Order. It's not unreasonable to say that [he] has picked up the banner carried by such bands and is carrying it forth into the 21st century. Euro-Electropop with strong songwriting, great melodies and a definitive pop sensibility will always find a home somewhere, and The City Skyscape is no exception. Make sure you give these guys a listen. 3.5 out of 5 stars."

-Wildy's World

"The City Skyscape blends together electronica and indie pop in an almost modernized version of 80s new-wave bands like Depeche Mode and New Order. This is someone to keep an eye on in the coming months."

-CT Indie

"The lyrics are intelligent and filled with emotion." "Thank you for taking risks."

-Taxi A&R

"Christopher's vocals echo a more aggressive Billy Idol at times, while drawing upon the synthetic beats and computerized instrumentation of 1980's techno popsters Depeche Mode."

-Bristol Observer
