From the ashes of several local New Jersey rock bands comes Easy Tiger, a quartet who fuses rock sensibility, solid song-writing, and a love for ear-catching melodies. Formed in the Spring of 2009, Easy Tiger are newcomers to the scene, but their experiences in music stem back about ten years. Rob Nardone, lead singer, founded the Alternative/Rock group The Bank Robbers, at the ripe age of Fifteen. After years of extensive touring and accumulating a nationwide fanbase, Nardone's group The Bank Robbers caught the attention of Universal, which distributed the group's 2006 release Tomorrow Belongs To Me. Gary Gandy, Easy Tiger's drummer, was also a member of the group alongside Nardone. The two joined legendary rock band U2 on stage for a song during the Vertigo Tour's stop in East Rutherford, NJ. Twenty-thousand people at New Jersey's Meadowlands watched in awe as U2 and The Bank Robbers performed together. Shortly after, The Bank Robbers disbanded. Nardone and Gandy frantically rummaged through the local rock scene to find musicians to start a new group with. Good talent was scarce. Signature Escape, a Punk/Pop band from New Jersey, were currently busy touring the country, selling thousands of CD's, and getting their music played on several MTV programs, with consistent airtime on "MTV's Next." Like The Bank Robbers, Signature Escape eventually parted ways, leaving guitarist Jay Rieg on the same trail of musician hunting. Nardone, Gandy, and Rieg finally got together and the chemistry was apparent right away. Easy Tiger began writing songs as a three-piece, and the music was pouring out. Blending classic rock guitar riffs, soaring vocals, and tight, crisp drumming, Easy Tiger began to mold their sound. Something was missing. A bass guitarist. Freehold, NJ Singer/Songwriter Amy Malkoff approached the band, eager to fill the spot. Having recorded countless songs and building a fanbase on her own as a solo act, she was ready to pick up the bass guitar and round out this supergroup of local artists. Nardone and Malkoff share the vocal duties, creating an atmosphere of diverse sound that is rarely seen by their counterparts in the local Jersey scene. Easy Tiger's influences range from everything from U2 and Jimmy Eat World to Michael Jackson. The current lineup are finishing up their debut EP, crafting arena-ready rock songs that are just as personal as they are accessible to anyone's ears they touch.
