We were The Alphites.

Born out of friendship, and inspired by a then thriving local punk scene in June 2003, The Alphites went on to become the first band to be invited to perform on Channel 4 prime time soap, Hollyoaks. We released our first digitally distributed single in July 2007 called, “You’re Not Ugly, You’re Lovely.” However, before this, we enjoyed lots of laughs on the way. Best bits include: football in the garden in between practices, CI gigs with arching electrics, dodgy covers, gigs in back gardens, excesses of booze, video shoots, aborted video shoots, and many more.

Highlights of our time together include headlining Manchester Academy 3, as well as enjoying memorable shows in other venues throughout the UK such as the Carling Academy Liverpool, Liverpool Academy (Guild of Students), Barfly Liverpool, the Zanzibar, and an old favourite, Heaven & Hell. Outdoor highlights include Matthew Street, Why Not Festival Derby, and an outdoor festival in Croxteth Park in the rain. It was probably most memorable for us being cut off half way through due to the excess of rain and health & safety not getting along too well. March 2006 brought the title of Juice FM Liverpool’s ‘Next Big Thing’ competition, beating hundreds of other entrants.

We were fortunate to support acts such as Rooney (USA), Men Women And Children USA), Ray Quinn (Pop Idol/Brookside/ Being a tit on Ice), Hot Club de Paris, the 747’s, Elle S’Appelle, Flamingo 50-the list goes on

We had loads of fun hanging out together, but like all good things, they must come to an end. We enjoyed it, hope you did too.x
