The Aeroplanes are the best band Liverpool has produced in recent years.

They have a built a reputation for world class songwriting and breathtaking live shows both in their home town of Liverpool and around the world.

December saw the release of the much anticipated debut album ‘Broken Hearts and Maladies’ which is now available from ITunes and any decent record shop. Produced by Mike Crossey (Artic Monkeys, Razorlight, The Enemy, Blood Red Shoes)

In 2005 they crashed into the top 5 of the indie charts with their debut EP and breaking the iTunes record for an unsigned artist in weekly downloads. This also saw The Aeroplanes being featured in the movie ‘The Moguls’ after Jeff Bridges heard their distinctive sound and personally requested for them to be included on the movie’s soundtrack.

In 2006 The Aeroplanes ‘took to the skies’ playing gigs in Germany, Switzerland and the US where they were invited to perform at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas. They also performed a full UK tour where they sold out across the country.

Working with Mike Crossey (Arctic Monkeys), the album has been an experience for all; “We have recorded in some amazing studios with some top people” comments Ian McMillan (Drums), but whilst recording The Aeroplanes didn’t stop they continued their hectic touring schedule performing in major European cities such as Berlin, Oslo, Rome, Naples.

Opening for The Prodigy at the Gampel open air festival in Switzerland they played live to a tv & radio audience of over two million people.

Their profile continues to rise and their music is currently featured on several TV programs including US based dramas Veronica Mars, Cold Case and now One Tree Hill providing them with ever growing worldwide exposure.

The band are now currently writing and working on new material for their second album.

Whatever happens though, the group are happy to simply ‘be’ as guitarist Paul Crowe sums up “We are a very close knit gang who want to be making great albums and playing together till kingdom come. Music is the be all and end all for us.”
