I have been producing albums, Ep's, and demo projects for independent labels and artists looking to sign on with them for several years. I love the feeling of helping people get the sound they want to achieve.

I've recorded & mixed hundreds of full length albums for as many bands, in just about every genre. (Myspace limits the genres listed in my header.)

For a complete list please click HERE

Yes, I LOVE working on all things Rock: Indie, Punk, Emo, Metal, Hardcore, Fusion, Folk/Acoustic, Industrial, ETCETERA

Though, I have also really enjoyed working with Good R&B/Hip hop, African, Latin, Reggae, Ska, Celtic, Electronica, and even good ol' Country. Not huge on Pop music unless it is extremely interesting. Though, if someones heart is in something. I always find a place for it in mine.

I own and operate a full service recording studio in Eugene,OR called Sprout City Studios. Been at that for just about 10 years, & I still love my Job!!!. I have also enjoyed working in many other studio situations in several states and even in artists homes.

My beliefs around what I do as a producer are summed up simply with this:

"Make the audience GET the music. then GET out of the way."

I am here to help the artist understand what the listener hears, and in turn be an active player in the dynamic of the album. Also, to relate the artist to the label and vice- versa.

Good producers walk that line with grace. Look at every favorite record in your collection. I'll bet at least 2 albums by different artists share the same producer.

Its all about the right fit. Just like adding a new drummer, keys, or guitar player, etc. Many good artists get the wrong producer stuck to them by a big label or whatnot, and voila!- bad record. The producer you choose must fit your style. and GET what you are saying with your music!!! Nuff said?

I am totally willing to travel to any good studio near you to work, and/or bring you to my studio to complete a project.

Please send me links/songs to hear what you have going.

THE SONGS -

The songs on this page are selected from a few of my favorite projects of recent years. If you would like to hear more of a certain project or songs in a different genre (I have many), please email me.

Song 1 is the last half of "a word of advice from Charles Bukowski" by a Eugene area band called A Mind Like Yours. This was a very fun project. After a month in the studio trying to complete what we hoped would get done in 2 weeks (as if I didn't have enough to do) I decided to compose a female choir part to finish the record. I thought it would be an interesting contrast to the hard and dark nature of the song. I am still stunned at the result. Epic.

Song 2 titled "Steve" is by an extinct Eugene area Punk band called 2bucks Short. This song is a kitchy thing. I wanted it to have a classic tone so that the vocals could really stand out, combined with that in your face punk rock texture. It quickly became a crowd favorite and the band resented playing it Ahhh, The aftermath of Fame.

Song 3 titled "Broken Wing" is by the Cannon Beach based artist Kathryn Claire This was also a great joy to work on. We wanted an unusual guitar feel with ambient overtones. The vocal harmonies were very fun to construct. There are several sounds and layering effects that I did not expect to use on a folk record, but the music called for it and it seems to be right.

Song 4 is actually 3 songs edited back to back. titled "Zvakuwana", then "Mukadzi Wangu", and finally "Kuvarira Mukati" are by the Eugene/Zimbabwe based artist Thomas Mapfumo This was an awesome challenge! I have always admired Zimbabwean music and it was an honor to work with such a highly respected artist in that genre. The language barrier was thick at first but the music really spoke for itself and we agreed on many things. This entire album, except for Vocals and Keyboard overdubs was recorded live in the studio. It shows what can be done when the artists have the groove. It was a challenge to get a good clean vocal as Thomas did not want to use headphones. So we arranged the P.A. in a way that killed the most bleed, and shot it hard. It turned out GREAT! It actually helped his vocal sit in the mix naturally (it was in the same room as the musicians laid it down in) and the bleed sounded quite natural.

Well, you be the judge.

Please Tell me what you think or how these make you feel!
