BIO



A Producer, Rapper, D.J and Musical Engineer, 4orce has performed and toured with musical acts such as Gabrielle, Missy Elliot, MC Lyte, Gang Starr, Salt & Pepper, KRS 1 and Public Enemy.



His various remix and production work include: Ms Dynamite, Wan-Cee, Carl Carni, The Lights, Reef, Oleta Adams, Phoebe One, Foxy Brown, Blackstreet, Public Demand, LL Cool J, Organized Konfusion, Common, Gravediggers, Busta Rhymes, Alkaholiks, Lord Tariq & Peter Guns, Capone & Noreaga and The Beatnuts.



Steve has also completed many album projects with artists such as; Izzi Dunn, Noel McKoy, Rubic, Russell Nash and Poynt Blak as well as his own solo albums.



As an original member of Ronin in the late 80’s when Steven was 13 years old, He released two solo records as F.O.R.C.E called “Being Played” and “Pure Power” this lead to him meeting another artist called K.Zee they joined force’s and got signed to Virgin as the group F.O.R.C.E n Kzee one of the first UK rap acts to be sign to a major record label in 1991

.



There 1st single Who got the last laugh charted nationally and was used in the 1991 Wrangler Jeans Ad campaign, worldwide.



This lead to there second single “Jam” also charting nationally and 3rd single “Lords of the dance” doing well.



In between all this they recorded a song for clothing line Stussy from the states, under the name I.S.T (International Stussy Tribe) called “Vibe holds the tribe”.



After parting company with virgin records in 1992 F.O.R.C.E n K.Zee returned to Ronin Records and release an EP Called “X-Amount EP” before sadly disbanding and going there separate ways.



Steven then began to work as an engineer in Greenwood studios, where he produced and worked with various artists developing his skills.

This lead to the 1995 released of Adlib “It aint over till you come” on 42nd street records which he co wrote and produced at 19.



In 1996 he met Dave VJ from Kiss FM who introduced him to Phoebe One, a talented female MC from West London, Steven and Phoebe hit it off immediately and created the UK hip hop classic “Mama’s on crack” which got his name buzzing around as the producer.



96 was also the year Steven hooked back up with Ronin and as the producer and artist released his first solo single since 1989 called “Smooth Reality” which did very well for an independent release.



This lead to him meeting Trenton Harrison a manager who handled all of the Rush artists (Russell Simmons Management) in the UK, they worked together as a team for the next few years and Steven found himself remixing and working with many artists from Oleta Adams to Foxy Brown, Blackstreet to Public Demand, LL Cool J to Busta Rhymes and the list goes on.



After securing a job as a Musical Engineer at Hit & Run music publishers in 1997, home to such artists as Phil Collins, Genesis and Geoffrey Williams he met Noel Mckoy a soul singer/songwriter who as a kid Steven had been a big fan of.



Noel asked him if he would help produced and mix his new album project called “Please take this personal” which Steven jumped at the chance and completed the project in a few months.



While producing for Noel he met Russell Nash another singer/songwriter on hit and runs publishing books, the two formed a 5 piece band called “Nash” and Steven concentrated on this as the producer and one half of the front men with Russell.



They secured a deal in 1999 on rotating records with Femi Fem formally of the Young Disciples and released “Just a Little sign” which Steven Co wrote and produced along with Russell and Femi.



Polydor/Go beat Records, home to Gabrielle and Portishead then signed the group and they recorded an album called “The Chancer” which went on to sell 40,000 units worldwide and gave them a top ten record in Australia (How mad!) with “100 Million Ways”.



At the same time the launch of Sacha Baron Cohen’s controversial character, Ali G, landed Steven a role on the Friday night show Da Ali G Show on Channel 4 as “DJ Da Force”, this quickly became the biggest thing Steven had done so far and he soon became known as the Dj from Da Ali G Show.



In 2002, after touring and performing still with his group “Nash” the band found it hard to crack the UK and sadly parted ways, Steven was then offered the 10-12pm slot on a hip hop only radio station called Itch FM 105.15 fm. Naturally he took the job and he entertained listeners every Saturday night, playing the very best in British and American Hip Hop.



Amid all this, Steven then meet Peter Adarkwah owner of BBE Records and was asked to record his own album as Tha 4orce, entitled “Mind Tha Gap Anthems” for BBE Records. He was the first and still is the only Uk artist to have done this, other artists in the series are Jay Dilla of Slum Village, Pete Rock, Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas and Jazzy Jeff just to name a few.



2002 saw Steven then land a presenting job on the MTV network in Europe and Ireland with Emma Griffith, he worked everyday doing live continuity which included linking programs, live competitions and live interviews with many stars from 10am till 6pm leading up to there flagship program TRL, Monday to Friday for the next two years.



4orce was also involved with the MTV Base Tour's; hosting with Trevor Nelson and Kat and playing at various venues up and down the country as a DJ.



He also was playing regularly at China White, Elysium, Wax, Pangaea, Equinox, Red Square, Café d Paris, Funky Buddha and NYT to name a few in London’s West End, as well as many venues around the world.



After leaving MTV in 2004 Steven went back to producing and helped Izzi Dunn and an underground hip hop artist called Wan-cee just to name a few record and release projects.



This lead to in 2006, K Swiss shoes picking one of Tha 4orces tracks “Biting on the hook” for there worldwide ad campaign, Steven then released this as a single on his own label Mind Tha Gap Recordings and it did very well.



This brings us up to today.



2008 has been a busy year for Tha 4orce, He has a new solo album called "Final 4ormation" set for release in November on his own label Mind Tha Gap Recordings, and BBE Records re released a new version of "Mind Tha Gap Anthems” called “Mind The Gap Anthems (V2).
